Hi, I have an '89 F250HD 4X4 that have 16x8 rims with Super Swamper LTB 34x10.5x16...my problem is that they rub the leaf sprin...this nothing new as these tires are 2" narrower than my old tires and they rubbed too. Is there an adjustment on the steering box for lock-to-lock or is it a lost cause?
thanks Anthony

Its time to crawl under that thing and check out your steering knuckles. Not sure about fords, but jeeps have a bolt sticking out of the knuckle that contacts the steering yoke when the wheel is fully turned. If it has this bolt, simply adjust it out a little bit on both sides until tire rubbing stops. If it doesnt have the bolt, (some vehicles dont, they just have a raised spot on the knuckle that contacts the steering yoke) its time for more serious measures. Got a buddy that can weld? Throw a lil bit of weld on the contact surface between the knuckle and yoke until the tire no longer rubs when the wheel is turned. If you find out that you've added too much, you can always grind it down a little bit.
If this isnt clear enough, post up and I can try to elaborate.

Hi, Thanks, I'll get on that as soon as this duck weather eases up...I need to do something I guess SOON.....I've had (12.5) WIDE tires on this truck for 9+ years and never been failed for tires until Freedom Ford Dinged me on my inspection...I think it is because I didn't let them break it off in me for $800+ to fix an exhaust leak. Thanks for the inputs.
Thanks Anthony
