Hey guys, I finally got this working for me!!! I like this format much better than the other style we just had.
Anyway, I am wanting to reubild my alternator into a 160 or 200 am alternator. I remember somebody doing a "Ghetto Engineering" write up in the monthly newsletter earlier in the year. Where did they go to get the work done? I know the told of the place that did it. Anybody got a clue? Thanks

B&L Alternator & Automotive repair, ph #596-0512 13539 Jefferson Ave. I have heard they do pretty good work. I wrote about changing internals of a GM alternator 110 amp into a 65 amp which worked pretty good. I just took the armatuer from the 110 put into the 65 but the 65 has less field so output probably isn't 110 by any means but it works pretty good. But I pieced two alternators to make one. Good Luck

call R.C.S. Electric Co. in Chesapeake. Both Ryan, and Shawn use them for their industrial machines and Mac trucks and such. Ask for Lewis. 420-7180 tell them your with the club.

Hey guys, I finally got this working for me!!! I like this format much better than the other style we just had. Could it be the one and only " Thumper1500" under a new name??? Welcome aboard Joshua! Glad you found us. You must be working pretty hard this summer... haven't seen you on the boards in a long time. You going to make the VA4WDA Trail Run? Lyle

Hey Lyle, I have been on the boards!!! Well, at least the old ones, not this new forum style. Remember the old threads about my D60? That was me. Madd Ramm is my name on pretty much ever single board so I figured I would keep it here too! Used to be soemthing like that on the old style boards we had earlier this year, then we ended up not having any names...anyways, I am sorta back! I am planning on going to the yearly run thing the first week in October. Paul will be finished with my axles and gear instal by then and I should have enough time to break the gears in. I am having to totally reengineer my brakes..installing different proportioning valves, line locs, and custom braided stainless. All becuase my truck is having a hard time accepting the old axles without ABS and such...but otherwise, finally moving along! Joshua

Another question on the amp....if I had it built to 200 amps, would it start frying all the electronics? Or would that just be available amps if I needed it. I am thinking about getting one of those on-baord welders and also I need something beefy to get these gizmos all wired up.
