Hey guys, I have no idea what to call these things....but here goes. The first time I saw one of these was in the bottom of a 14 bolt cover. It was this little rubber plug and it looked like you could pull it out to maybe drain the diff cover. But once I looked inside, it looked like there might have been a hole and then someone punched it out and made it larger to stick that little plug in there. Well, I bought an XJ oil pan to put on my XJ and it has another one of these plugs! It is right next to the oil pan drain screw bolt, so it makes no sense! It looks the same way. On the outside, the hole is all smooth and looks like it is supposed to be there. But on the inside, the metal is all jagged and looks torn and forced. The little rubber plug has screw threads on its inside like you stick a screw in it to screw it into place or maybe out..... Anyway, the plug got torn in half when I tried to pull it out, so now the new oil pan is just as useless as the old one. Anybody know what I am talking about or where I can find them?

that is very common on parts found at the junk yards, don't think they do it at UWI because most of their stuff is untouched, it's just a quick way to drain oil and requires less tools. the pan is steel so just weld it up.
