Guys,
I am soo at an end with my truck. The silly thing hasn't started in 5.5
months!!! EVERYTHING on the Ram WORKS!!!! But it won't F****** run!
Here is what has been done.
1. Fuel pump works, it buzzes and spews forth plenty of gas.
2. Fuel injectors spew plenty of gas.
3. Crank sensor has been replaced.
4. Cap, Rotor, Plugs have all been replaced.
5. Fuel pump relay and ASD relays worked, but were replaced anyway.
6. All spark plugs have been checked and they do spark outside the chamber
when grounded. This also means the wires are good to the best of my
knowledge.
7. The coil was tested, it worked. It was also replaced, still no go.
8. The computer was replaced with a new performance one.
9. The Cam sensor was replaced cuz the motor is showing serious signs of not
being aligned due to some cylinders back firing.
10. Battery was replaced with an Optima Red.
11. The exhaust was checked for a stoppage, plenty of air gushes out the
tailpipe.
12. The compression has been checked on the passenger bank cylinders. They
all read 130 PSI except for 6 which is closer to 135. I haven't done the
drivers side cylinders yet, but highly anticipate the same readings.
13. Starter was replaced today cuz I thought that it wasn't pulling very
well. After 5months of dry humping the motor what else could you expect.
14. The rotor was checked for play, it seemed to have a little, but not what
I would expect to throw off the timing. The rotor always points to #1 cyl.
I am sure I have done other things as well, just can't remember all of them.
Is the 130 psi good for compression? I can't seem to find in my FSM where it
says what it should run at. But at least they are all within a small
percentage of each other!
Currently, the spark plugs are all covered in black ashy substance that was
dry to the touch.
The only thing that I can think of is that there is a short in one of the
wires in the wiring harness. the first time I tried the test for the crank
sensor, I couldn't get a reading for the voltage, but it was raining out and
my Mom was complaining about having to help me by turning the key to get it
cranking. (SSSSSIIIIIGGGGGGHHHHHH)
Everything on this truck works 100% by itself. But all together, they don't
let it run!!!!
What am I missing??? the only thing I can think of is the possibility of the
timing chain. At the beginning I didn't want to go to the trouble to take
the front of the motor off. Seeing as how I have put so much effort into
this thing so far, taking the front off seems simple! Please advise. I am
literally in tears!!!!
