Hey, has anyone w/ a 1996+ Chrysler vehicle (except Jeeps) tried the ignition key "on-off-on-off-on" sequence to read OBD2 trouble codes? I believe the digital odometer is where the codes will read. Anybody...anybody?

www.troublecodes.net/chrysler/"96 & later are OBD2 & requires an OBD2 scanner"Having said that, one thing you might try is holding down the trip odometer button, turn the key on, and release the button. It should run the diagnostic on the instrument cluster. After that finishes, wait a minute and see if it starts to display codes on the odometer.

Well....that ain't how it works on the Ram!!! My OBDII system is '97, so it should be fairly similar. With the key procedure, what happens is my check engine light will flash. It is just like morse code. It will blink a couple of times the starting number, then it will blink say 3 times...pause...then 4 more blinks. This means there is a code 34. You have to look on the web or somewhere to get the list of codes. But it will blink like this and I have to pay attention to it and then it will give a 55 which is the conclusion code meaning it is done. I wish it had numbers on there somewhere and would just flash them up instead of having to use morse code.
