To all that run Shoecreek: The hill climb also known as clay hill, is private property and the owner is very serious about keeping people off! She has informed the law and will prosecute if caught. Pass along the word to stay off and speak up if you catch someone climbing.. thanks

Pat
Is that the hill where the guy broke his D35 in the white TJ? I just want to make sure where you are talking about. If it is the same hill, MAJ is trying to contact the owner to re-tank trap it so that people can't run it.

If you look at the pictures from our latest shoecreek run there is a picture of my scrambler coming into a creek crossing. The orange tape behind and to the left of me is the hill climb. I too have contacted the PO about usuage and closure. I believe our ability to keep other wheelers off, with out permission, may make or brake our future using of the Property

I think that we are talking about the same hill. Regardless, I think that people need to realize that they need to stay on the trail. Maybe in order to pass the word along via Chris at the VA4WDA meetings to the other clubs that may help a little. If people keep up their ways, we're all going to be a bunch of pavement pounders. And I did inform the gentleman who broke his D35 out there that his axle wasn't all that he broke. ie the law by tresspassing. Most people I talk to that have Jeeps I inform them that they should get involved in a formal club that is also a VA4WDA member not Bubba's 4WD Club. I also saw a post where some Richmond people are planning another trip to Shoe Creek on JU. www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=336838&perpage=20&pagenumber=1 I posted to let them know that the hill is off limits and not to be run.

The word that needs to get out is this: The Shoe Creek main trail from route 826 at Crabtree Meadows (gravel parking lot at the top) to Route 745 (where the houses are at the bottom) is open for public use. Any and all property to either side of the road is PRIVATE PROPERTY. You are trespassing if you travel on any road other than the main trail unless you obtain permission from the property owner. In addition, the property near the top of the mountain, where the Shoe Creek trail crosses the Appalachian trail, has recently been designated a wilderness area. Please inform any and all interested parties so that we can keep the main trail open. Abuse leads to closure. I will try to find the Shoe Creek area on the forest transportation map and post the information.
