Hello everyone, My name is Sam Harper.I went with your group to Oakridge.I drove the Green 83' Cj that got the tie rod shoved over the front Dif on CJ5 hill.I am trying to find the young lady that was in the river, on a rock, and took a picture of me in the jeep after I was almost pulled over on my side in the river. She looked at me and siad "sorry I had too".I believe she was with a gentleman that had a yellow cj with I believe a 350.She also had a child, roughly 9-11 years old.I have some really nice pictures of the event(mostly my jeep, but it was my camera, haha)I am trying to see if I can get a copy of some of the other pictures that may have been takin of my Jeep in the river. Thanx

Hi Sam, Hopefully, you found the person you were looking for. Sean Yeager of Poor Boys Four Wheel Drive Club posted a number of photos from the event here: 10nine8.com/htm/va4wda2002.htmHope that helps.

Hey Sam! I spoke with J.P. earlier today and he said you many need a straight housing for your M20. Drop me a line.

Oh yeah, we really bent the l/r axle tube trying to winch the tie rod straight. It has blown the rear axle seal.Hopefully soon it will be coming off the road as a non daily driver, so I can get to work on it.thinkin about the yj spring over.I had a friend hook me up with dana 44's for my scout, he only charged me 150 for the rear.Scout is gone but i am thinkin about using the 44's when i do the leaf swap. The only other damage came from the u-joints, but that was no big deal.
Thanks for the poorboys link, sorry to report, that any pics of my cj where not there, looking at the pics, looks like it was the other group.I do have some nice pics of your jeep norm+a few others if ya want them.

Well, coming up CJ5 hill, we got bounced off boulder with the r/f wheel, sending the left front wheel into another rock.I spose it cought it in a sweet spot, because the tie bent so hard it was over the front diff. What you are seeing is Ben's winch cable, wrapped around the rear end, pulling down on the tie rod, trying to straighten it out.Luckily Norm brought an extra tie rod.A small trip back to camp to retrieve it, and about 1/2 an hour, the jeep was up the hill and headed back to camp.
