Just heard on the news that the State of West Virginia has outlawed the Liberty Renegade for registration there citing it's height as the issue! <not kidding!> Wow! I saw a Renegade at the VA Trail Run, and it was my thinking that it needed a bit more height (or clearance, at least). I'm betting we hear more about that deal!
Tony... What's up in WV? See, you leave town and they start turning on Jeeps!

I believe it has something to do with the driving lights on the roof. They are mounted too high for state law.

Right you are, Chris. Apparently, the lights are about 30" too high for the Mountain State! Found the scoop at the Huntington Herald-Dispatch: www.herald-dispatch.com/2002/October/14/BUlist1.htmOn the plus side, however, you CAN still get your NASCAR license plates from WV.

I read in Petersen a couple issues back that after highway safty testing they found a couple SUZ to be HIGH rollover risks. SO with the Renegade and ALL liberties, they have be LOWERED 1" Ben

I was also wondering about the lights, how VA inspection says that you can only have headlights and 2 fog if it came standard on the vehicle. ALL other lights must be covered, Well I havn't seen any covered, maybe they just have to be in working order

There are a lot of posers with lights above the factory headlights. Most are not connected to ant power source (you don't see wires coming out the back). Then there are those wannabe desert racers who have lights up high, wired up, but covered to pass inspection. Those who have lights up high, wired, and uncovered are just lucky I guess.
P.S. You would think 4 - 100,000 candle power lights is a lot. But on Bonneville Salt Flats at 10 p.m., that's still not enough!!!

Team Toyota has been there already (in 1996). Can't you tell? We drove out on the salt flats on our way home from the United Convention in Reno, NV
