I have two free tickets to Casino night in Richmond on Mar 8th. The catch is you need to write something about why you want to be a memeber of Tidewater Four-wheelers and your Favorite wheelin' experience. This is also limited to those of you who don't already have tickets or have volunteered to deal. Send the story by replying to this e-mail. sheppardspnt@cox.net Winners are chosen Wednesday Pat Sheppard President Tidewater Four-Wheelers

Well, nice to hear from our fearless leader again. So are you happy to be back? Sure you are only a few days until the road trip weekend. Tony

I want the tickets, to Casino Night. I love T4W, you guys are alright.
My favorite wheelin' trip, was overnight in Davis. We had lots of people there, but no one named Mavis.
How do you like my diddy, before I kick you in the shin. Do I get the tickets? Tell me, did I win?

Pat,
Does quick response count?
Really great question you asked... why am I a member of Tidewater Fourwheelers... particularly since I live in Maryland. In short form Pat, it's this:
I bought my very first Jeep in 1998. By stroke of good fortune, Jeep had their first "Camp Jeep" event in Virginia in 1999, and I signed up for that. By a stroke of extraordinary good fortune, one of my "trail guides" on my first ever off road adventure was Chris B. Of course, the guy who gave us the driver's meeting speech (which I now have memorized) was our very own Erick S. We had a great time... but never did any more 'wheeling again until the next year's Camp Jeep. Guess who I saw there again? The same folks... leading the trail rides, volunteering... so that I could have fun. Offering advice, and offering to help me. They even invited me to join their club picnic that year... down on the Outer Banks, and of course, we went. Driving pop up rainstorms and 60 mph winds notwithstanding, it was a GREAT time.
I made my decision then, that if I was going to be involved in any club, it would be that one,,, Tidewater.... not because I'm from Va. Beach (although that is certainly a side benefit to me), but because of the people in this club who make it what it is... a family.
As time went on, I met my requirements, and was accepted as a member... not just me, but my family, including my son, Dan, who by this time had his own Jeep, and was immediately welcomed when we went together on trail runs.
I began to look for ways that I might contribute to the club. Being a "distant" member, I was keenly aware of the meetings I was missing, and wanted to find a way to be a contributing member. Again, that was made possible by Chris, who allowed me to help him out with the website... the one thing I could do from a distance.
Through it all, the distinguishing factor has always been that ALL the members of the club have made me feel welcome, and a part of the T4W community, even though I can't make many of the regular meetings. Moreover, there are no age barriers in our club. Old and grey like me, or young and wild like... well, let's pick BIG J, everyone "meets me well", and has become my friend. I have made friends that I know will be friends for life within this club. There's simply not a good way to express in words what that means.
Pat, you originally asked "why am I a member of Tidewater Fourwheelers". I can sum up by asking you, "Why would I not take advantage of the opportunity to be a member of Tidewater, if given the opportunity?" I am, and will always be, proud of my membership in Tidewater Fourwheelers.... because of the people in our club.

Runner up Jon I have strep Moore. Great note but I can't infect the world, Well you may have already given the tickets away but here goes anyway. I first heard about Tidewater several years ago at Camp Jeep. I had owned a Jeep from the late 80's while living in California. Upon moving to VA, I really didn't know anyone that was in a club or any trails to go on in the area. When I was at Camp Jeep hanging around the staging area, I ended up talking to Erick about Tidewater. He told me about VA4WDA. I didn't originally join Tidewater but another Jeep only club but there weren't many trail runs. The next year at Camp Jeep I spent a little time talking to Chris Boucher and got on his friends list so I could find out about wheeling opportunities. After that, I went to the JJ preruns and met other Tidewater members, notice a pattern yet. I found myself more and more involved with the people of Tidewater. Stated emailing some of them and went on some other runs with them. Well I got to thinking that these guys are fun to wheel with and I was looking for a new club to be in. So I took the plunge and joined. It has been great so far and there appear to be many other opportunities to be involved. I would have to say that my favorite wheeling experience has been as a Guide at the Jeep Jamboree as well as the prerun for the VA4WDA annual run. The pre run had me on trails at Oak Ridge that I had only heard about and had never been on. Jonathan Moore
