15" on the ground so far and the local weather guys are now saying we could see as much as 30"! How's things in VA? Getting ice? Edit: 5:30 PM update, now 24" in my back yard. The MD Governor just issued an order banning all non-emergency vehicles from state roads until 4 am. Edit: 10:00 AM, 2/17 - Still snowing: It's a different angle, but I can no longer kneel down in the snow. and... my '65 Mustang:

Enjoy your long/extended weekend off. You'll probably have to use it to dig out. Here with the frozen precip. my soft top feel hard as a rock. I'd rather have the snow personally. Welcome to the shortened work week.

Why do you have to dig out? I thought you had a Jeep ;D I forgot to get the plow attachment! ;D Actually, what I really want right now is taller boots! Hip waders would be nice.

Maybe instead of going to Oak Ridge, we should go dig Lyle and the rest of NOVA/MD out

Maybe instead of going to Oak Ridge, we should go dig Lyle and the rest of NOVA/MD out Well, we ended up with 26.6" officially (at the airport), a new record. The "digout" has begun, and they've actually been working on my neighborhood! They're using a Case frontloader rather than plows. First time I've ever seen that here. Not sure where they're going with the snow... maybe dumping in the river.

Hey Lyle dad got over 28 up at his house in WV. OUt on the hill at my grandparents they had over 8 foot drift yesterday morn so i have no idea what they have now. Of course the little one is stuck up there right now so hopefully the wife will be able to get her next weekend. Have fun digging Tony

I heard they got socked pretty good in WV. There's a place in Western Maryland that had 44". The digging was not all that much fun. I dug Nena's out where she could get a start, then just drove mine out over top of the snow bank. Then spent most of the rest of the day clearing the driveway. The Mustang's still buried. Tell your Dad to take it easy with the digging. It's supposed to get warmer later in the week and rain, so that should take care of the snow.

From The Annapolis Capital Storm beat all the others
By ERIC COLLINS Staff Writer
What most shoveling residents suspected is now official: The Presidents Day weekend storm will go down as the region's worst since record keeping began in 1871, breaking an 81-year-old mark, forecasters declared yesterday.
Officials tallied 28.2 inches of snow at BWI Airport between Saturday and yesterday, revising their original figures.
"That's definitely No. 1," said Michelle Margraf, a meteorologist based in Sterling, Va. The previous record was 26.5 inches in January 1922.
My Comment:
DANG the difference! 26.6 or 28.2, either way is a LOT of white crap to have to move! I'm seriously considering strapping a snow shovel to the front of my Jeep, and driving South until someone stops me to ask: "What is that?" That would be the spot for my new home. ;D

Well Lyle, when you do strap that shovel to the front of your Jeep, Diane would like a ride to a less white environment. It's kind of funny, a couple of months ago, I threw away my snow shovel, I wasn't using it any way. And I surely don't plan on shoveling any of this ice.
