Hey folks! Figured I'd get on the band wagon with sharing projects that people are starting. Some members know I've had an 82 cherokee floating around my back yard, engineless and trannyless. But there is hope, with the chances of putting in a 360, T-18, 208 combo. Along with a 6" all spring lift from bj's offroad, and 33s. this will be a long project to undertake, as well as trying to modify my wrangler. here it is, freshly captured on digital film:

Part One: The arrival. The Diplomat arrived at 14:00 hours Saturday afternoon, where it was placed and photographed. Condition is good, with ornery initial start up, but continuous good response afterwards. Drove on and off the trailer under its own power. Very quiet. (Must change that once in the Pocket) Under further observation, the 318 is an 87, with electronic fuel control system (will be replacing with an edelbrock intake and carb). Vehicle is now on jackstands, ready to be sacrificed for the greater good of Jeeps. Observations concluded that the 999 is good, and so will change output shafts out of the 904 originally behind the cherokee's 258. Gears will be changed to either 3.54s or 4.56s. Do not know yet. Have to analyze MPGs and power ratios. Observations also showed that the a/c will be converted to OBA compressor. Many thanks to Chuck for the free car and delivery, and many thanks to Chris for allowing me and my father usage of his trailer!!

You need to find a way to incorporate those cool turn signal over headlight assemblies onto that Wagoneer. Hey Mike, can you photoshop it so we can see what it'll look like?

I'm not too sure about that one chris...
I will be putting on a Rhino grille for it, however.

Boy, am I glad to see that beast in your yard instead of mine for a change. ;D Good to know it's somewhere now where it's actually going to get used. Dumb question on the initial startup. It's a feedback carb, not a fuelie. You are pumping the gas once or twice right before you crank, right?

It hasn't been started since I parked it Saturday. No need to pump it, in that case. But yes, I'm aware it's a carb. I've worked with a few before.

Sorry, had to ask. ;D I noticed it was starting a little harder the last couple of times we fired it. There's probably not much gas in the tank, though. Had to put some in just to get it running in the first place.

You are correct Chris i think that the dual head light/turn signals should be swapped also. They look square in the pic and we all know the cherokee has a square front. Change them babies over. You will be the only one with that set up.

It's going to have dual headlights, but circular ones. Driving lights on the outside, Rallyes on the inside. With the rhino grille setup to finish the deal.
