Jan 07 Ok folks, after waiting a couple months for back orders to catch up, I recently received the final Old Man Emu lift parts. I also installed beefed up upper and lower control arms from All-Pro Offroad. The lift included rear coils and shocks. [img src="http://www.photodump.com/direct/japusa/fjc_upper_links[1].jpg"] The upper arms are 1.00x.156 wall DOM with Johnny joints. [img src="http://www.photodump.com/direct/japusa/fj_lower_links[1].jpg"] The control arms are made from 1.75x.281 wall DOM and Johnny Joints from Currie Enterprises. They are beefy. This was after the rear was finished.

Fran,
How much of a lift is that? 2, 3, 4"? Looks pretty sweet. Now all you need is the tires...

Tires,,, I faced reality here and knowing that I'll spend lots of time on the road with this "daily driver" bought a set of Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 285x70x17 (33 inch tire). Not far down my build up list though is a set of Swamper 34x10.50x17 LTBs. I'll put them on when I head to the trails or want to let someone know I'm coming down the road. ha
I picked up my underside skids last Saturday, but still need to paint them.
Oh ya, the OME lift added two inches to the rear and extra weight carrying capacity. The front lifted all of three inches. The front is really stiff now as these are the heavy spring set. It settle down once the 250 lbs of skids, front bumper and winch are added.

I doubt he'll be beating the FJC up at Crozet anytime soon...
The A/T Revo's are supposed to be pretty good all-around tires, from what my buddy at the Hobby Shop in Marysville, WA said. He's got a set on his XJ and is pretty happy with them. They're not loud, etc., and actually much more quiet than say, BFG A/Ts and actually have some pretty decent on-and-off-road performance reviews.
I sort of figured it was a 2-3" lift, since most of the OME lifts are designed to not involve much in the way of drivetrain modification, etc., and they are fairly reputable as well. Can't wait to see what the finished product looks like!

awesome fran! Is it going to see crozet someday? ;D You bet I'll wheel it at Crozet, once the sliders and skids are on of course. I'd like to have the LTBs on vs the Revo tires, but we'll see about that. I'll at least give the easy stuff a run. It's really only the side and top body panels and paint that I worry about.

My roomate lifted his a while ago, hes already taken his to Paragon and hes already got trail damage on his.. I believe the bumpers got messed up and the flairs.. I cant remember all because he been having custom stuff built for it and its been in prototype mod for a few months now, I think he will be picking it up next week

No doubt, Don! It's just better and probably easier to take them off before the rocks out there rip them off, I imagine. I don't think he wants to remove them the same way Karl removed his out there on the trails in Washington ;D

Added some new build pictures at the beginning of the thread. And yes, I did wheel at Crozet a few weeks ago. Here's a little proof in my tweeked skid plate.
