Did my first mod to the Rubi tonight as a while back I bought a 60" Hi-lift jack but with the Rubi it doesn't have a ready spot to mount it for travel...so here it is. Will ;D I wussed out and went to Northern Tool and bought the Hi-lift 4XRAC kit which is simple to install and looks like it will fit the bill for now! Cmon! Ya didn't think I would wait too long before I had to modify something!?! Later!

Looks great, but uh,,,,,, that is a funny looking bumper. j/k Seriously though, I wouldn't leave it there. Mud and dirt will raise havock on the operating parts of the jack. Mine are mounted high in front of the winch and still have issues. Also if your in deep water or mud accesiblility is definately an issue..... Also figure out a way to lock it to your rig, it may not be there when you need it either.... rides.webshots.com/photo/2273513410056642908RYNQjOtim

Yeah, I was thinking about that all day today when me and the family drove down to Kitty Hawk to the beaches...."Man hope someone doesn't jack my jack! For right now that is about the best way for me to carry it with the jeep till I get another rear bumper, If I get into some "Deep" wet stuff or something I will probably move it up on the roll bar somehow...but all this will be irrelevant if I can't get away from Va Beach to so some real wheeling!!!! Tim, By the way the Dana300 I have is 23 splines if that sounds correct for the input side. From everything I've read that is the standard count for a stock Dana300....

For stock jeeps, and probably lifted jeeps that I have seen, a 48" jack does pretty good, you really don't need to get a jeep UP that high. and with a 48" and a pair of muffler clamps or ubolts, it fits nice in the back against the roll bar and then its out of the weather. Where it is now, I have seen them ripped off on the trail (backing down an incline into a pile of rocks). It would be cool if you could mount if vertically somhow, maybe with the foot bolted to the bumper and a second attachment point around the lights or the attachment for the tops. KEEP ON MODING. BEN

Saw a hi-lift get bent, mounted in that exact spot, on the pre-run Saturday. Red stock Rubicon on trail F...starting up a hill, backed down into a hole and bent his shiny new hi-lift....ouch!!!

Congrats on your first mod! Excellent choice. Next mod should be a decent capacity ratchet strap. That way you can use it to hold your suspension at normal ride height so you'll never (hopefully) have to use all 60".

While I wouldn't recommend spending as much money as I did on this (I would build it 2nd time around) this hood rack works great for the HiLift and other tools I may want to put in its place.

Nice photo, Cory. That is one sweet CJ in the background. I stopped carrying a high lift when I went up to 36's. It is just in the way and someone always has one anyway.

Hey Cory, Can you flip your hood back on the windshield with the jack on for optimal engine repairs? Im not sure there is a single place that is the GREATEST, what ever works for ya.
