Today I finally got around to cut the long tube on the Dana 60 (Ford)... I removed roughly 5 1/2" which will give me a wms to wms of 63 3/4"... I will use 2 1/2" wheel spacers which will give me a total wms to wms of 68 3/4". The rear axle is 67" from wms to wms... so I have 1 3/4" total difference which equates to a 7/8" difference per side... No biggie in my eyes... The first pic is of the paper and the straight edge I used to scribe my line... The second pic is the tube wit hthe "C" removed... the scribed line is how far the "C" will sit on the tube... The third pic shows the end of the tube... After the "C" was cut off I used the Dewalt grinder to quickly grind off the excess material to the scribed line and then I hand filed the tube end until all was smooth and straight. I checked the straightness with a machinist square in four spots... vertical, horizontal and the diagnals... all was good. Now I have to machine/remove the weld and separate the "C" from the remaining tube... after that is complete I have to run the axle over to a shop and have it welded up with the proper caster/camber... There's Still a lot of work remaining... But needless to sya things are slowly happening... lol

The New Start to an Old Project may have taken a turn in a different direction.... lol. I have a chance to get a FSJ that needs a little TLC but, it's currently road worthy.... What was said to be a 79 is actually an 82, no biggie... It has Rust in the normal places... Nothing too major that a little sweat and elbow grease can't handle... It's looking like monday I'll have it in my driveway... Soooo what does this mean for the Jeep? Well, i'm looking at getting rid of it... I'll post everything it has etc in the for sale section...
