In the up and coming future will be working on this project Swapping dana 35 for 8.8 with disc brakes. Axle is currently having the brackets installed. Axle to be stuff with 4.88's and lockers. Dang stuff for 8.8 isn't cheap either. Also looking for fender flares if anybody has a set they will to let go or sell. The TJ is one of those high powered 2.5 four bangers, but that doesn't stop the boy from, well his over aggressive driving style. You know heavy skinny pedal. So if anyone is looking for 4.10 ring and pinions dana 30 and dana 35 will have a fresh set this fall sometime....more to follow as the CJ mechanic gets his hands on a TJ coil springy thing. Oh and question for the TJ fellas and gals, where is the E brake? Pedal or handle in the console? tim

Does this mean Shayne's in town? No he isn't going to be in town, he is going to be doing duty in Iraq starting in October 09. Going down to pick up the jeep prior to him leaving and to spend some time with him. Including a trip to Superlift OHV park in Hot Springs again around the 4th or 5th of September over the holiday weekend. If anyone is in the area bring the wheeling rig and lets hit the trails.... tim

E brakes a handle behind the tcase control. Flares, if he is runin wider tires, I would find some sahara/rubicon flares, their stock and 1in wider than stock. a 4.75 backspaced rim with 33 12.5 is almost covered with these. Or look for someone going tube flares. what kind of lift does he have?

Thanks for the tip on the flares, but yeah the tires he has now are 33x12.50's. So I take it both E brake cables go directly to the handle...hmmmm,,,guess need to look at the 03 -05 TJ with rear disc brake cables to see how they mount compared to the 8.8 Again thanks for the info Ben... tim

I have seen the cable crimp and not really a fan... So I have come accross some part #'s from NAPA that match up to the 8.8 E brake lever (Part # UP 95342 right, and UP 95347 left) and suppose to work with the Jeep's E brake system... I am sure there talking about the Rubicon 03 - 05 44's w/disc brakes, pretty sure nobody would waste the time to disc brake a dana 35.... But I do hope to find some flares at the swap meet this Saturday.
Oh and nice flares, way out of the budget but nice....lol....

Just when things get going good, heading down tomorrow to Arkansas to pick up the Jeep and see Shayne for a few days. He calls up Saturday to say the Jeep died on him on the highway and looking for a quick solution,,. Always something with these Jeeps... Hope it is something simple......lol...... On the road again.... tim

That sucks. I'm willing to guess it is crank position sensor or ignition-related or something electrical. Could also be fuel delivery or PCM related. Hope ya get 'er figured out! I'm going to guess this trip turned from a fly-down, drive-back to drive-tow-rig-and-trailer-down, load jeep, drive-back-with-jeep-in-tow-on-trailer situation.... either way, have a safe trip and hope ya get some good QT with him!

Thanks for the kind words dave.... Trip was always a drive truck with trailer, pick up jeep and drive back. If anyone has seen a Shayne owned jeep before they will know why we drove. Plus we were hoping to stop at Lokar aftermarket parts place north of Knoxville Tennessee, but didn't make it before they closed. They have a Clevis for use on the 8.8 Ebrake to use the existing Ebrake cables on the TJ, well at least that was the plan. It all depends on the existing cables if they work, if not than will go with 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee with rear disc brake ebrake cables...... Jeep is fixed and Shayne got it before we got here. Turned out the pickup in the distributor went, along with the coil and the CPS. The culprit was the + battery post grounded out, at least that is the story. But all is running and now Friday heading to the OHV park in LIttle Rock for this event...."Thrill's in the Hills" 2009 - 4Wheel Parts and Superlift Customer Appreciation Run 4th through the 7th... woo hoo! www.orvpark.com/events/arkansascrawlers.com/main/Will get some pics hopefully,,,,, tim

Welcome, Tim, glad it all worked out for the most part - except for not getting to the parts place before closing. I guess I don't know the implications of a "Shayne Owned Jeep".... but if it's anything like some folks I know and how terribly they drive and maintain their vehicles.... No offense intended, honest! That park in Little Rock is probably not too far from 'camp' down in Texas. Good info, might have to check that place out! Hope ya get some pics.... Dave G
