Have decided to put the 4.0 and AW4 in my wife's YJ due to the strawberry milkshake in the tranny. (4 .0/ aw4 in place of 2.5 RH33) Here we go, started pulling the harness, getting all the connectors, and PCM out and on top of the engine awaiting removal. Figure I will pull the whole drivetrain at once, already removed the grill and header panel. My question, this and more to follow, is I have all the engine controls and such figured out, almost, There is one connector that has all the wiring for the alternator and distributor, oil pressure and starter soleniod. These wires go to differant connectors further up the line, could I just splice these into the mating wires on the main harness? Any other helpful info would be greatly appreciated. Ken

I have a '95 FSM for the YJ with lots of wiring diagrams. This might be useful to you. What year engine are you swapping in?
If you splice wires, consider using heat shrink tubing and "liquid electrical tape" to keep the gremlins out.

ITs a 99 I believe, the connectors on the CKP and CMP are the 3 wire, just have different plugs. Figure that I can just cut and splice (soldier) those connections and it still work. I actually changed my plan a bit, found out that I can use the original harness, just add 2 injector leads to the ECU connector and I am up and running. Of course with the 4.0 ECU. One question, I see that there are different Calibration numbers for various engines of the same year, how would I go about choosing the right one, I was under the impression that as long as I had a 95 4.0 ECU I would be good.

Ok, engine is setting in the YJ. Problem, found out the the XJ engine brackets(brackets that bolt to engine) are not going to work for the YJ frame!! So does anyone have a pair for a YJ laying around, or know anyone that would have them?

flex, if you still have those wiring schematics that would be great.

Hope all goes well.
