I am installing a 99 AW-4 into wife's YJ. I will be using the t-case from her YJ(spine count is good). I have seen on a couple forums that some had "clocked" the t-case were others haven't( at least not mentioned it). Is this one of those things that you install everything and see how it fits to decide on "clocking" ? If I do need to clock it then is there anyone that has experience in doing it and would be able to help on this? Ken oh and what about the linkage set up for the t-case shifter?

Alright, I have sort of answered my own ?.Yes I will have to "clock the t-case, just because the XJ aw4 has it setting too low for the support pan, and the drive line angle on her YJ. Still open for ideas on shift linkage.

Tony Wheeler has a sweet Tcase shifter linkage for his YJ's 231. It's home made, but is as clean and simple as any I have seen and works like a champ, and doesn't use the body's pivot points. Perhaps he can post pictures/describe it ?

Basically you make what is pictured. What i mean is the rod that connects the t-case to the shifter. It is all thread with a couple of heim joints that fit a couple of bolts that you install in each end. make sure you use jam nuts on each heim joint and cut the all thread to the length you need.

I had to clock the T-case when I put the AW4 in my TJ. I brought the transmission tail housing to a machine shop and had them machine a new set of holes 11 degrees clockwise.

Donny, Who did the machining for you. Thinking of that option, or using the tail housing off the 2.5 auto as a template.

If I had it to do again, I'd probably do it myself after seeing how badly the machine shop did it. They actually indexed it wrong and had to slot some of the holes. The tail housing is aluminum, so it's easy to drill and if you have to oversize a couple of holes to make it work then so be it.
I had a race shop off Diamond Springs road in Norfolk do it, can't remember thier name.
