just upgraded to 37's on my TJ. They are balanced within 1/4 oz. On backroads, at 40mph the death wobble is so bad you have to drop back to 20mph for it to stop. If you pull out onto the highway and accelerate quickly, it'll run at 70mph smooth as silk.... Any ideas?

Jeep drove like a dream with 35" MTR's (old tread pattern). Track bar is nice & tight and not damaged. I bought a set of 37" MTR's (old tread pattern) with 3,000 miles on them. I am using the same 15" steel wheels.

2 questions...
first... who balanced them? I don't think I've ever seen a tire over a 31 that's taken 1/4 an ounce of weight. I've seen 33's take almost a pound of weights to balance and then they weren't perfect. I'd go to another place and have the balance on the tire checked after my second question...
Two... Your lug nuts are all tight and were tightened correctly (cross pattern to center the wheel on the lugs)?
If the only thing that changed from 35's to 37's is the tires then you need to look at the tires. If you changed something else in the process look at that too!

Paul, They were balanced on a speed balancer with me watching the guy. What I meant about the 1/4 oz was that is how far from 0.00/0.00 we could get them. Three of them read 0.00/0.25 and one read 0.00/0.00. Sorry for the confusion. Yes on the lugs. I put the tires back on the jeep myself, cross patterned and torqued. I did run the front control arms out 1" (8 turns) to lengthen the wheel base. I will be moving it back in that 1" tomorrow to see what that does. I inspected the track bar & bushings last night and noticed a slight amount of play in the top track bar bushing. Will repair that, too. Thanks for all the suggestions.
