Today Tidewater Fourwheelers lost a member of our family. Larry Newbern passed away this morning. I don't have a lot of details right now, but will pass them along as soon as I hear about them. Just want everybody to keep his wife and kids in there thoughts and prayers.

I always enjoyed his help on our work weekends up in Oakridge, the most fun was 4/14/2007 when he helped move the Big Rock on trail 5 [ Double Creek ] to put the Bridge piece in. Thank you Larry, Rest in peace my Friend, Tom

I do and I will try. I have the pictures of the trail #5 big rock winching / rigging day. I have it on a disk so if I can't figure it out I will get it to a real computer operator. Larry drove a silver LJ Rubi and he was lower on the creek that day.I think his daughter was there also. Tom

Larry K. Newbern VIRGINIA BEACH Retired Chief Warrant Officer 3 Larry Kevin Newbern, 49, died unexpectedly July 28, 2010 from complications during open heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He was born in Trinidad to U.S. Navy Lt. Thomas Newbern and wife Alice. After graduating from High School in Oxnard, Calif., he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, also following in the footsteps of his brother, Robert. While enlisted, he received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle University. After earning his commission, he continued his Naval career until he retired after 22 years of proud service. He was a member of the Virginia Chapter of Patriot Guards, the Disabled American Veterans, Tidewater Fourwheelers, United Four Wheel Drive Association, and the Harley Owners Group, among others. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family, especially his wife and best friend of 15 years, Jodi, and his two beautiful children, Amanda and Kevin. He is also survived by his father, Thomas (Barbara) Newbern of LaVergne, Tenn.; his stepfather, Floyd Johnson of Virginia Beach; his brother, Robert (Sheri) of Columbia, Tenn.; his sister, Lynn (Jason) of Virginia Beach; brother, Jay (Jasmine). He was predeceased by his mother, Alice Johnson of Oxnard, Calif. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 10, at NAS Oceana base chapel at 11 a.m. All friends and family are welcome to attend. Family will be escorted to the service by Tidewater Patriot Guard Riders. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to any of the following: The American Heart Association https:// donate.americanheart.org/ ecommerce/aha/aha_index.jsp; The Virginia Patriot Guard www.virginiapatriotguard. org/; The Serenity House Network www.serenity houserochestermn.com/; or The Mayo Clinic (via http:// www.carepages.com/carepages/HEARTHELLTHandOtherHeartyNews - you can also join this link to post messages to the family.) A special account is also being set up for the Newbern children at Navy Federal Credit Union. I think the club should make a donation to the fund for his children, perhaps 15% of the treasury based on last month's meeting minutes?

Thanks Chris, I was just getting ready to post that.
Maybe a poker run, ending at OBX or maybe star with all proceeds going to one of the charities in his name? any thoughts on that? I know as a club we are kind of busy, but I think we could make time.
I will be attending the memorial Tuesday, If any one want to make a donation and can"t make it contact me at 757-618-4234
