Ok so I sold the YJ. Now for my next project.......... . Well this is what im starting with. 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins dually 2WD. Yea thats right 2WD. Whats done to it already. #10 fuel plate, 16* timing, 4" MBRP exhaust, 3K GSK, Starr wheel turned up, Very large air filter(BHAF). Its got a fuel pressure, EGT and boost gauge. And the power at the rear wheels is 700FT LBS and 375HP. The only thing im doing right now is get a set of traction bars built for it and put some decent all terrain tires on the back. I am also planning on putting 191 delivery valves, 370 5x12 SDX injectors, and an Airdog 150 fuel pump. (replaces lift pump). But this is gonna be a slow build. Oh and once all of thats done i am gonna get a turbo that fits the truck. Anyways see yall at the pulls. Oh and im dubbing this po boys pullin.

Don't forget the transmission! You can crank as much power out of it as you like but if you have nothing to connect to the ground with you are going to be forced to get a ride home and find a way to get the truck home.
Not my choice of directions but good luck.

I'd go watch this mayhem.....Kinda like the old days of Bill Reitzel and Gene Baker having a dualing breakage fest.

Yeah I see this turning into a real cluster... Josh, I'll give you $100.00 after you finish tearing it up and can't get it running.

Ok first off to all the naysayers, belive me its gonna get interesting. And Im not to worried about the NV4500 it will hold up quite well and when it breaks just like when yall break stuff ill make it better. Just wait till yall see the traction bars im gonna have custom built. We are starting with either .25 wall or .50 wall tubing. And its gonna be fully gussited and stuff.

Why don't you buy this and convert yours to 4wd: norfolk.craigslist.org/cto/1925771905.html. I looked at it today and was hoping for a D60, but it's a 44 front. In my limited pulling experience (about 6-8 pulls), i's rare to see a 2wd truck entered in an event, let alone competitive. I pull in second gear (auto) low range, are you going to be able to launch and run one gear throughout the run?

As for what gears ill be using in the trans. Well its a 5 speed NV4500 manual. Im planning on trying 1,2 and maby 3. Once the turbo is lit up i can keep it in the boost so shifting wont hurt me. And like i said I want to build something way different then anybody around here has done. No it wont be easy but it has been done. Mainly its gonna be about holding onto the boost, not missing a shift and putting weight on the rear axle to lift the front tires. Thats what the traction bars are for, so when the front end lifts i dont get a lot of unwanted axle wrap. If yall want to see some other 2wd pullin rigs check this out www.competitiondiesel.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=190Josh

Oh and like i said in another thread this is not my first go around with a pullin truck. I built a 95 cummins 4x4 and it had 1200ftlbs and 620hp at the rear wheels dyno'd. That truck would consistently pull about 340ft to 350ft but was a 4x4. At this point im trying to keep the truck in stock class so it will be not as competitive as the 4x4's at morgans corner but it will be fun and interesting and a 2wd has beet a 4x4 hooked to the sled. Oh and i had bout 75 or more pulls on the 95.

Make me pullin smart. Why do you want to lift the front axle? Wouldn't it be better if all 6 tars stayed on the ground, even though the front ones aren't providing power? They can at least steer. Or are you looking for additional downforce on the rear tars??

Same theory as a 2wd tractor. Keep the tubo spooled with most of your weight on the rear tars. Front will lift which transfers even more weight giving better traction.
Josh you left out the one true REDNECK mod.
STACKS sillyit every true deisel owning redneck has to have stacks.
Trust me i live in WV.
