I am thinking of installing some trail/camping lights on the rear bumper of my JK. Does anyone know of a spare power source on the fuse panels that is powered only when the ignition is on. I was also just thinking of just going of the battery with a online fuse and switch. That way I can always have power. - Uriah

Quadratec used to have a kit that would allow you to go behind the dash and make an addition 12v output for accessories. But by the sounds you need a relay in the system because you will be running a high draw application.
There are add a fuse that you can find at most Pepboys, Napa, Autozone, etc. It just clips into a factory fuse holder and has a pigtail for accessories. If you use that on a switched power to turn a relay on and off and just put a switch on the ground side of the relay you will be fine. Don't wire direct to the battery without a fuse and relay though.

JKs have very little for ignition on power options. The most common one that I know of in the dash is the left plug at the botom center of the dash (right is constant), not really of great use for lighting (but good for CBs and stuff). The other issue is getting power from the Battery to a switch in the dash, I think I read about a little hole on the Passenger side that can be accessed by pulling the panel off the side of the dash. These newfangled Jeeps are sure alot harder to wire up than the old CJs. I though I read about a "power" option in the back of the new JKs...maby a factory part could be used. Sand Squid

Getting a wire into the cab isn't a problem. On the drivers side the panel between the door and the dash comes off. Behind that there is a hole with foam in it. Using a coat hanger you can push thru from the inside and end up right at the hinge under the hood. I ran my CB power thru there then weaved it thru the factory harness so it's not seen.

Hey Guys, Thanks for the replies. As a matter of fact, Paul I just got back from an underway. Good luck to you brother. I saw a couple of right ups on the jeep forum with a new JK owner using a Mopar kit. Cool LED indicator lights too, for the dash. Uriah
