Ok I know this is primarily a Jeep forum, but I have to ask this question. I have an 93 Bronco, stock with 32x11.5, 5.0 ltr/E4OD. This replaced my rotting out XJ. It is in great shape but I am looking for more power. I installed a Flowmaster muffler and 2.5" tail pipe, that helped a little. cleaned the lower intake and replaced the injectors with a higher flowrate set. I think #20's. Now it struggles to get to 80MPH, after OD kicks in forget it. Engine/transmission only has 50K (jasper rebuild). Has anyone had experience with the Jet chip that you can plug into the back of your PCM? This engine is running a MAP sensor, so unless I can adjust it, I am limited with bolt on performance mods.

This ain't no Jeep forum. Your stock injectors would have been 19#/hr. If you went bigger they'd most likely be 24# injectors. Maybe 22# if they were aftermarket. Regardless, you shouldn't have went with bigger injectors, the stock 19# injectors are good for more power than that engine is capable of making without a big power adder or major engine work. Put them back in, all it's doing is making it run too rich. A cam might make a little more power, but not much and it could cause idling issues with your MAF system, depending on which grind you get. A better option is to get some 1.7 pedestal mount roller rockers. But they will require new and stronger valve springs. To make a lot more power you need better heads. AFR aluminum heads are awesome and you can get them with a smaller 58cc combustion chamber which will increase compression and really wake it up. How much money do you want to spend? ;D Chips won't do anything for you, don't believe the hype. You can add advance the timing by rotating the distributor for a few more hp, which is all a chip is going to do. But you risk spark knock so you either need to keep your ears open for it, or run higher octane. Another contributing factor to putting power to the ground is gearing, what gear ratio is in the axles?

Running stock gears, I believe 3.55 open. I took the injectors out and stuck them in my XJ before I sold it, the XJ ran great! Oh well, it runs and idles very well with these injectors, I thought at 256K the stock injectors were in need of changing and 5.0 Motorsports showed these to be an "upgrade" to the # 19s that were in it. I think they had a better flow rate? So unless I want to start spending serious $$ I am stuck with the power I have? I thought about a K&N kit, but feel that they too are allot of hype. Was going to replace the mechanical fan with an electric, might free up a couple horses. Really on a tight budget, moving to sunny Florida in 4 weeks!! Ken

I did replace the P/S head with a new Ford reman unit, I had a coolant leak I could not find. ended up being that the outer head bolt didn't have enough teflon on it so the antifreeze wicked its way up the threads and out the side of the head. Lesson learned!!! The truck runs great, the E4OD is a bit temper-mental, but it shifts like it should. later on I will be putting in a Ford transmission with all the current upgrades to the E4OD.

Jeep guy here but CJ's are mostly Ford anyway..... If your tranny is temper mental than are you sure you're getting the HP to the ground?? Is it puling better or worse since the injector r2? You may be able to pull a few cheap ponnies out of driveline oil changes??
