Good find! I guess it is the 232 6 cylinder?
I saw some CJ5 doors on craigslist.
Post up some pictures when you get it.
I think you are looking for the usual CJ problem areas just like you said.

If it has a rear view mirror then all you need is a drivers side door mirror. I would get one that mounts on the windshield frame so when you remove the doors in summer you don't have to mess with a mirror relocation, plus you can use soft doors if you want. Check the rear frame rails for rot and the tub. Check to make sure the tcase works and the axle gears aren't broken internally.

Thanks for the info toynrnd and fromme. The guy has told me that the frame and tub are solid but we all know how that goes. I am optimistic though. This is the only picture I have so far and I am supposed to meet up with the guy on Saturday to look it over. I am trading my 1980 K10 for it. I have never had a CJ5 before but I have had an XJ , ZJ, and a WJ. I am looking forward to getting back into a Jeep. jeep1 by justinsleeper, on Flickr jeep2 by justinsleeper, on Flickr Attachments:

Now to find you a Jeep T-18 w/ the 6.32 first gear. Any idea what axle gears are in that CJ5?

I am so bummed, The guy with the jeep just called me and said he grenaded the rear end when he was putting it on the trailer to bring it up here. Oh well I guess I'm lucky it did not happen after we traded. I guess my quest for another jeep will have to wait a little longer. Thanks for the help. Justin

So, why not just trade and upgrade the gears front and rear? Sucks that happened, though. Hope it all works out for you.

norfolk.craigslist.org/cto/2430115681.htmlToynrnd - Price is obo of course and truck is registered as an antique because it does not have cats and the ebrake is not hooked up. It has some rust but it runs good and I have worked out most of the bugs. Dave G - I really wasn't looking for a project right now. I'm trying to put together two 87 BMWs and was gonna just drive the jeep. I told the guy I'm still interested if he gets it put back together. Thanks guys.
