Meeting Minutes
December 14, 2011
Officers Present
President: Harold Sumpter
Vice President: Jesse Schneirla
Treasurer: Lisa Murray
Officers Report: Harold called the meeting to order at 7:05pm, welcomed members and guests, Tim Dailey & Bill Clinton introduced themselves. Harold explained that there will be format changes to the upcoming meetings
The new Board members introduced themselves.
The Meeting Minutes were read by Jesse and accepted into record.
Lisa read the Treasurer’s report
No environmental report this month
Yearly membership dues is now being accepted, after the January meeting there will be a $5 late fee, we also accept payments through Paypal
VA4WDA News & Events: Jesse reports they are pushing for membership, working with an auto dealer to purchase memberships for new 4x4 owners, Fighting to keep our UFWDA membership benefits and packages, talked about the Blue Ribbon Coalition, Facebook page, Look for their new website, Members only run at Gore registrations and the Annual Meeting on March 24 at Starr Motors,this the EXPO is one week earlier in August, deadline for newsletter for Jan 1st, still need a write up on the past Annual event, it has been estimated thru the years Tidewater has donated about $46,000 to VA4WDA and they want to thank us. The monthly meetings are usually held the last Monday of the month at the Sandston Rec Ctr. See Sandy if you are not on the VA4WDA Google group.
New Business:
Highlights from the new president: Pay attention to the Yahoo groups, forums and Facebook for upcoming events and emails, the club will be planning monthly events and wheeling trips, working to make the club more interesting and exciting, goal is to change with the times, get information out sooner, to make the meetings run smoother, have more day trips, wheeling weekends, etc. comments and opinions and questions are welcome. Bylaws are in review by the committee.
“Holiday Lights on the Beach” Bonfire, Cocoa, S’mores & 4x4’s, were meeting at the Schneirla’s after 4pm on Saturday Dec 17 caravanning to the boardwalk at 6pm to see the Lights, discount tickets are available for $8, benefits Green Run Elementary School. If you cannot attend Saturday you can still purchase the tickets, which are good thru the end of the year.

Past Events: Paul & Heather Gilberts Wedding and Starr Motors Work Weekend on Nov 19, Christmas Party Dec 3 at the Grassfield Ruritan Club, Early Bronco event at Starr Dec 3 and Dec 10-11 the RCFPA fundraiser for Toys for Tots at Crozet,Tom Lassen’s Train club’s annual free train show at the Avalon church Dec 2-9
Andy reported back on the fundraiser for “Honky” Tom Cowden (name corrected from last month) who was involved in a very serious motorcycle accident last month, it was held on Dec 4 at the Clutch Bar & Grill and proceeded to Knuckleheads Bar, about 12-13 club vehicles participated and included many from the motorcycle community generated about $10,000 for his medical expenses.
Upcoming events: Feb-Sandblast Rally Race in South Carolina, Possible work weekend at Oak Ridge, April- Wheeling for Hope, See Forums for Dates and more events to come.
R2 and Southern Jeep are selling “Relay for Life” t-shirts and the slogan is “Save the Headlights” shirts are pink and cost $15. These and other items will be available at the dealership.
Motion passed for the club to purchase 6 shirts and spend $90 and to use them for an upcoming event raffle.
Motion passed for the club to spend up to $50 for cocoa and S’mores supplies for the bonfire and Lights on the Beach event.
Motion to adjourn at 7:56pm
The club will meet at Rancho Grande for dinner after the meeting
