I'm buying a HOT AMC 360 to drop into my Heep (the 401 will be built and put back in at some point). Anyone experienced w/ hopped up engines? It's got forged 10:1 pistons shaved head for ~10.5:1 compression 1.7:1 roller rockers comp cams magnum 280H - www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=17&sb=0I'm trying to figure out the best way to get it to crawl, lug, and idle pretty well and still spin like a banshee when asked to - so I'm thinking of swapping in this cam: www.summitracing.com/parts/HRS-310021-14/What do you think?

Is all that on stock heads and lower end? 10 to 1 is still pump gas and you have the gearing to keep it in the power band. Go for it. Guess Rich had a sale?

He just found out he's heading to Cuba for a year and made me an offer that was tough to refuse.
Stock heads - shaved, ported, valve job, etc Stock crank, forged pistons and rods, chromoly push rods ....
I'm thinking the 114 degree lobe separation angle of the Howard's cam I'm looking at should really help smooth out the idle and tone things down.
Posting at 3:30 am? That can't be a good thing.

Hi Adam, try Jesse Harrell. I wheeled with him and Ray at Crozet a while back and he had a V8 that loped at what seemed like 100 rpm's but kept on chugging because of high compression ratio. I forget what ratio but it was at least 10:1 IIRC. He was in his dad's green Jeep....
