Tired of this transfer case leak, I took a "me" day and pulled the front driveshaft off the t-case. Not really anything leaking from under the yoke dust cover but lots from around yoke nut. Pulled yoke and gee no o ring on end of output shaft. Of course I didn't have one so I dabbed a little black RTV on splines. That will probably do. Put yoke back on and torqued nut. Then I pulled the rear bearing cover and took out a couple shims to tighten up loose bearings on shaft. Worked great, nice and smooth now, no wobble. Should be good on this leak. Bearings might last awhile longer too. Then I pulled the 'case cover (yes already drained it) and hmmm a 1" by about a half inch silver piece dropped out. Like a big roll pin or solid dowel. No idea where that came from, but it did fit nicely into the hole that is in the front (inside 'case) of the rear output housing cover, which is a breather port I guess. I couldn't see anywhere else for it to go?? Of course I couldn't get it back out so I then pulled the output housing. Good deal cuz I went ahead and pulled the stock breather cap and pressed in a barb fitting so I can run an extended line. ;D I looked at my t-case breakdown but can't see this piece anywhere in it. Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is the cross shaft for the intermediate gear assembly. Exploded view

You might have to add it to your "trusted sites" to get your pdf reader to work correctly.
