A bad day fishing is still better than a good day working.

Took this straight from the article: "On summer days, hundreds of families play and others fish near the surf, while construction trucks and lines of four-wheel-drive vehicles rumble through within a few feet." Nothing like a little ominous journalism to get people fired up I actually drove down to Hatteras last weekend. Went and bought the annual ORV permit. It'll be interesting to see what happens with all the legislation they are trying to pass to overturn the permit regulation. If they overturn it, think they'll refund everyone's money? Doubt it

The funny thing is that with the permits happening down in Hatteras you could see this coming. There will be way more traffic in Corolla/Corova because alot of people that I have talked to do not want to buy the weekly permit let alone the yearly one. But they still want to go to the beach. Its going to come down to dollars. Only when the revenue from the day trip folks and the tourists dries up will the county say that it might have been a bad idea. By then it will be to late so it will just end up being a private area that the county pays for only to be enjoyed by the wealthy few. Just my 2 cents. Russ
