LCQ day two. Again we got there early and watched the douchebaggery of parking and jockeying for good spots ensue. Whoops. Pulling cable. Should have pulled cable. I really liked this rig. This corner got a lot of rigs. One rig rolled and was able to hammer down and right itself. It was fun to watch. One guy said "that's like RC car stuff!" Definitely not the right line. Tom stole my spot. These guys were flying. AWD motorcycle? It's tough when you show up early for the best spot. Family wheeler anyone? The corner claims another.

Photo of my junk on our hill above camp. Weds night Chad and I headed into town to BS with folks but we found that many of our friends were in "race mode" so we decided to look at the rigs around hammer town instead. Lippy Larry's s-box getting additions. Thursday we woke up and ran Sunbonnet with Anthony whom had just shown up. Anthony and Tiffany. Tom on a bonus line. Anthony trying to keep up. Chad and Anthony with Terry taking photos of flopathon (tom) being dumb. Flopathon on a bonus line. Anthony showing us how it's done with 38's and no crawl gears. Chad on a "good" line.

Flopathon spotting chad on a bonus line. I think he was on his bed. Flopathon pushing the limis of my new stub shafts. Anthony getting it. Thursday night we ran Turkey Claw but I was charging my camera battery. No pictures. Anthony broke an inner D44 shaft on Turkey Claw. Working on getting the naughty bits out. Chad warming his twig and giggleberries by the fire.

Twilight race morning. We got up at 5AM to get a good spot to watch the race. Turned out to be a great spot but cold and windy. Mostly wind with 50 mph gusts all day. Not the greatest but we had a great spot to watch the race. On top of Wrecking Ball ready to watch the race at 0630. First car didn't come through untill about 1030. It was Shannon Cambell whom we watched get horribly lost. He ran up bender alley, down bender alley, up bender alley, down bender alley, up wrecking ball, down wrecking ball, and up wrecking ball until he finally made it to CP5. A normal trail wheeler would take all day to do that. He did it in about 20 minutes. The panorama from our vantage point. Watching the weather come in. Anthony and Tiffany watching the start of the race. From our spot they looked like "spots" out on the horizon. The wind was about 50MPH at this spot. It sucked. The end of Robby Gordon. We watched it first hand. After Robby rolled, the cars started to back up. This was fun to watch. 3 Cars stuck vying for position on a spot that Chad and I had walked through not days earlier. A panorama of the 27 cars stuck due to Robby Gordon. Lippy Larry on the "right" line on the waterfall. Nobody bothered to tell him this wasn't the "right" line. This is the right line, but you're doing it wrong. Cody Addington passing Larry. For the folks that don't know that is a "trail wheeler" toyota. Leaf sprung and 40 inch irocks with a 22RE motor. Not many photos after it got dark, cold, windy and nutsty. We packed up and headed for camp to get warm, have some beers and hot food. Next morning we saw this as we were headed out. 4WD bug towing a trailer. On the way home we stopped at IN-N-OUT burger for both lunch and dinner. 24 hours after leaving the lake bed we were home. I can't wait to go back for next year.

WOW! Looks like a great adventure. I would love to go see that race someday. What do you think it cost for the least expensive vehicle competing in KOH?

WOW! Looks like a great adventure. I would love to go see that race someday. What do you think it cost for the least expensive vehicle competing in KOH? Not including the vehicle. With all the entrance fees and such probably about $5000 for your extreme budget guys. Every year when we go down it's about $1000 for fuel $300 for food and water, $50 for IN-N-OUT burger. We have seriously talked about entering the Every Man Challenge race down there. Basically it's a shorter KOH course. To prep my Jeep to even complete the race we would need a fuel cell, safety gear (fire suits, window nets, new harnesses, helmets), fluid containment systems on all components. It would probably be about $5,000 to for us to even be taken seriously. We are prepping my Jeep for the Best In the West races and WEROCK competitions this year. Last year I took first place in BITW and beat everyone in the class above me too. This racing thing is fun.
