Just Installed a Quadzilla Commander in my 06 CTD Dodge. Initial install review is it's simple to install. Like the fact that the LCD replaces several mechanical gages with one LCD display, but I will say in the particular one that I received that the bottom two buttons don't work well at all...almost sent the unit back, you have to press them hard as HeII to the point that I thought they didn't work at first. Aside from that once you have it programmed it works like a champ. I don't have it chipped or anything thing , but it says it will integrate with most popular models. Overall. I like it. Easy to read, and programmable, and I didn't have to install 4 different gages on my A pillar. Looks like this

I am hoping Santa brings me one of those. Who did you get it from? Did you do the fuel pressure kit, too? I am nervous about drilling the exhaust manifold, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Got it from www.thoroughbreddiesel.com Didn't do the fuel pressure kit. Was kind of squirrelly about tapping the manifold also, but it turned out great. Aside from the thermocouple in the exhaust manifold only other sensor was the tranney temp and it just goes in one of the existing test ports in the transmission. The boost is tapped off the map senor and the coolant temp splices off the original temp sensor. Directions were easy to follow. Worst part of installing it was running the wires through the firewall. Also when I first installed it my check engine light came on. Threw a couple of low sensor voltage trouble codes, but they reset after i turned the ignition on/off three times and haven't come back.

I've read you get a better tranny temp reading if you put the sensor in the line right before it goes into the tranny cooler up front. Any thoughts?

Dunno, by placing it in the test port you are getting an internal transmission temp reading vice just the fluid outside the transmission in the line. Would think that there would not be much variation between inside the transmission and right before the cooler, plus I'm more worried about the actual temp inside the trans where damage occurs vice a reading of the fluid before the cooler, if the cooler has a decent heat exchange rate the overall temp of the transmission may be less than the reading you would get before the cooler. Not sure how you would tap the sensor into a trans fluid line either without making some kind of machined block for it to go into and the flluid to flow through. The way the one for the quadzilla comes with installs, you take the test port plug out ...screw in the sensor...doesn't get much easier than that. Anyway not really sold one way over the other, try it out when you get yours for xmas and let us know which you like better
