And for the lack of foresight on my behalf, I'm regretfully sorry to have fallen "short" in quantity. So shall not be the case for the next event which requires the "Sweet Chili" to be brought to. I didn't know I was going to be farming any out to tell you the truth (the amount I brought usually only covers the 5 of us). Being that it was so cold, I couldn't just let us be the ones with chili to warm the insides... I do remember hearing someone utter under their half-full mouth, "schnooze, you lose" ;D. It's all good Ken. I'll be sure to fortify my quanities for next time. Who knows...maybe I'll be making it on-site next time? Well, turns out I snapped the flange almost all the way off right under the manifold-downpipe connection. I got the downpipe off and am searching for the replacement. Might end up welding it back but I'm worried about the collar not seating around the flange right thus preventing the exhaust from sealing up. I would post a pic, but for some reason my image host isn't cooperating..

I would had gotten some when you said "Ken, you want some chili", but my sleeping bag was oh so nice and warm at the time.

I figured as much after the first half-hour or so went by without you...
I saw you check the pot after you finally got up. I felt bad from all the way up at the fire pit. Only a little though... ;D

Hey Ken, didn't know I was eating your cup of chili. Man, it was good!! ;D I'm going to be watching the next time Andy signs up to camp, I'll have to pack the special chili cup.
Anyone heard from Paul G? Was wondering how his return trip went with the bent control arm?

Thanks to all of you who helped clear the trail! Heather and I enjoyed the weekend wheeling with you. It looks like you want to call it "Tidewater Run", is this correct? We look forward to having you guys up again. Thanks again Chris and Heather

This park has some formidable runs that should not be taken lightly. It’s so fresh and new with cut logs they add a new element to four wheeling…they’ll be chewed up before long but right now they’re a different sort of thing to drive over. They get buried in the muck and when driven on they surface long enough to put our lockers through their paces. One rocky pass with 20 foot boulders appeared so tight I was sure Fran was using his doors to bounce off the sides and I wondered if he thought we could care less about our own rigs. Well, we competently made it through the gap intact and despite not having that third cup of coffee, I was on full alert.
These trails appeared to be easy and straightforward but time and again we found ourselves challenged when we least expected it. One particularly surprising climb that had a few rocks at the top of a rise surprised our guides with the realization that once we drove it and churned up the layer of mud and forest debris we uncovered a nice sized piece of smooth hidden rock. Sweet.
For the last run of the day I liked the way our guides lured us into running the “cascading stream of waterfalls”. Again, they looked deceptively easy and our guides were smart enough to put our own rock crawling expert, Don Bishop, in the front of the line to lead the way. This was near the bottom of the run with two waterfalls and involved careful tire placement and complete faith in gravity. Reveling in the exhilaration of success we were asked if we’d like to run this from the top and it was at this time we learned a lot about team work and faith in our fellow club members. One waterfall involved an off-camber drop that necessitated the use of a 30’ strap attached to the interior of the roll bar that all able bodied participants held taut while Don eased his way down. Being next in line left me no alternative but to s**k it up and take my licks whatever they may be and our club members and guides were exceptional in their assistance in helping me and Ken through this impressive waterfall.
Chris, Fran and Heather, you have done a fine job in selecting and clearing the trails at Crozet, if you’ve got a web site I’d like to save it to my list of favorites. Thanks for a good time! Debbie Economos

Debbie, Our website is www.xjsrule.com. This is mainly about our competition here, but will include the trails in the future. Thanks for coming. You kicked butt over the weekend! Someone voted you for "Wheeler of the weekend". Chris

I got back alright. didn't have any kind of dw or wandering. The upside with the wheel cut all the way to the right my passenger side tire doesn't rub on the control arm anymore. Next weekend or later this week I'll go over to the auto hobby shop and change the arm with one I have in the garage. My new sidemarker light should be in today or tomorrow. Got it on order on sunday. I'm going to try and have my yota up by mid march for the next one. I will not be back there for a while with the Jeep. I do look forward to going back and getting some rock rash on the Yota though. It was fun. Did anybody get a picture of me taking out my marker light by anychance?
Paul G.

Debbie, You kicked butt over the weekend! Someone voted you for "Wheeler of the weekend". Chris I'll second what Chris said. Debbie, you did an outstanding job and I commend you on trusting and listening to your spotter. This sport is all about teamwork and cool heads. Look forward to more wheeling with everyone in the group.

Andy, looks like it has been there a while. Is the metal somewhat rusted through? If so, welding may not be an option. May be easier to buy a new flange and a piece of down pipe to fab up a new one.

It looks like you want to call it "Tidewater Run", is this correct? Chris, I'll make a command decision and say "Tidewater Run" is good. I know we had a lively discussion around the campfire Sat evening and this name keeps it simple and recognizable to who cleared it. I know you need a firm answer so you can order the trail signs.
