I too want to pass along thanks to Fran, Chris, and Heather for this weekend. My whole gang had a great time despite a few lumps on the Rubicon. Chris and Fran did a great job spotting and the little trails offer as much of a challenge as any of us could hope to find. Unfortunately I won't get the chance to hit the rocks again, but would if I could.
Thanks again,
Don

Andy, looks like it has been there a while. Is the metal somewhat rusted through? If so, welding may not be an option. May be easier to buy a new flange and a piece of down pipe to fab up a new one. Already ordered a new downpipe ($60 - Advance Auto). Will be here tomorrow. You're right though. Probably a long time coming from rusting. All it needed was the right bump to finlly break it.

Chris & Fran, I don't know about "Wheeler of the Weekend", I personally find being hi-lifted on my first rock crawling attempt the ultimate in humiliation... Your buddies with the little Toyota were the unstoppable wheelers in my books!

That was Bill Baxter's white FJ-40 and on Sat Will Leaman with his friend's Samurai. They are folks I know through the Virginia Land Cruiser List that wanted to check out Crozet. What impressed me was the little Samurai making it up the hill climb at the end of the Pasture Trail.

VBTJ I think you were nominated cuz you tried every obstacle you came across be it easy or hard (as in black rated) and made short work out of many of them! Oh by the way my "pretty and clean " XJ is now a "pretty, clean and DENTED" XJ compliments of the hill climb! (both hill climbs) Fran great job putting the ride together, Billy is hustling to get his Early Bronco ready for the next one and Jason wants a Jeep now instead of his Ramcharger! I just want to hit it again!

I think Chris said it best sitting around the fire... "There are trails here that you "might" get body damage and there are trails that you "will" get body damage". Despite the dents...it was nice to see the XJ make the climb(s). Hence my need for at least one locker. . . Oh..I agree that the FJ's (Frans too) made a lasting impression. A good one at that. . . Fran - is someone going to spray paint that rock with "Fran fell here too". A nice arrow to that spot would be a good memory.

LOL, that rock has my name on it already, as it claimed my pinion shaft the previous week. It darn near claimed my nose on Sunday. Nothing more slippery than a wet moss covered rock, well maybe except for the mud on Tidewater Run or the fresh pasture pies..... ;D

Dave, what did you dent on the Cherokee and when? I didn't see it while you were loading. Must have happened on Sunday and I'll bet it wasn't a miss-spot. It must have been a skinny petal issue?? So, how is the video coming along? Will you be ready for the big screen this weekend?

Good spotting this weekend Fran, sometimes ya gotta "bump" a little and things start a-swaying'!! I got a small dent on my driver rear quarter panel (it's getting bobbed and plated anyway) haven't been able to determine where I picked that one up from (!), got a small gouge on driver side rear door (horizontal not vertical so I'm thinking I got it sliding down off of something!) and lastly a dent under passenger side rear door molding from rock that sticks out at top of dead end hill climb. Got that one on video! For those with smaller lift/tires contemplating Crozet, get some good skid plates on your rig! It makes life a less stressful knowing you can just slide over stuff. If you need any help in this department give me a shout. Fran on your behalf we have video of Chris eating s@#t on the rocks! We're working a software issue right now I'll post when we're all set to view, etc. Got some good stuff on Sunday's ride, even with newbie photog.

Dave, sounds like most nicks were driver side. Here I thought I would have a good dig to throw at Billy in the passenger seat. Thought maybe he had his eyes closed hanging on with a death grip. Of course, Billy could have been hyper-ventilating as I didn't hear any screams from your vehicle like we did from Andy's girls as he went down some of the hills. That was a hoot!
