I have a very flexy TJ running 34s and no sway bars.
I am picking up a trailer this weekend to start hauling the Jeep with.
Should I tie down to the Jeep axles and let it flex when towed or should I tie down to the frame and load the suspension?

Dave, I tie the axles down. We have discussed this topic before, and it lead to great debate with no conclusions other than do it the way that makes you most comfortable. I did a quick search but did not find the other thread.

Axles here. If you tie the frame down it might compress the suspension a little, but going down the road it will be constantly loading and unloading the straps as the suspension continues to compress and rebound.
For reference on my last trip I was carrying my camper too. It has very flexy leaf springs on it and I had tied it down at the axle. I noticed the box was still bouncing up and down so I put a strap on the rear crossmember too. When I got home I found the rear crossmember was bent (it's pretty flimsy) indicating it was unloading the strap then really pulling it tight on the rebound. Same principle I'd think.

Axles. Like Keith said, the unloading and loading will stress straps or chains.

Other than installing the sway bars is it possible to put a strap from the frame to the axle during towing....
Always towed by the axles here.....

I've always tied to the frame. The only problem I've had is the straps occasionally come a loose. That 's why I ussually stop at the rest area just outside of Hampton roads and check the straps. The suspension does compress and on my truck since doing the lift is compresses a lot. But I think it's ultimately prefrence. My thought process is new vehicles on car trailers are tied to the frame for shipping so why not tie to the frame for transportation. Just my $.02.

Like Booooocher stated, there is much debate on this subject. One thing to keep in mind when comparing to new vehicle auto transporters is the 10 plus inches of flexy suspension travel that a lot of trail rigs have. I've always tied to the axles. I think it would be a good idea to "compress" the suspension as a secondary to control body lean, but I've always felt safest by strapping to the axles.

One other advantage to attaching to the axles IS the body roll/lean. People don't tend to linger beside your tow rig and trailer if they see the vehicles bobbing around. They fear something might be coming off pretty soon. ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for the comments. Here is my approach.
Two large straps attached to front axle. Two large straps attached to rear axle. One strap, on each side of the frame, roughly in center of the vehicle, to assist with reducing body roll.
