Ya, it would have been nice not to have brackets that looked like swiss cheese, but it cost nothing and is the same thickness as the mount, which I didn't have. Or a way to bend it. I could always drill another hole on the side brackets, but didn't want to have any more holes in the frame if it isn't necessary.

Now all you have to do is stretch it properly!
And I was thinking...Greenbrier Mall has a lovely incline on the back side...and near Sears!!

Looks pretty serviceable to me. I'm cutting up the same universal mounting plate to make part of my removable winch mount system, so I'd be curious to see how much it's going to flex on you. Is that the E8000 or the E9000? Either way, HF actually sells both, minus the pretty Mile Marker stickers, for anywhere from $50 to $200 less than the MM-labeled one usually goes for, depending on how good a sale you catch. I've seen the E9000 go with or without a roller fairlead for as low as under $350 a couple of times. As far as I know they're the same unit, for anyone else looking for a reasonably priced winch buy. Not as fast as a fancy Warn 8274, but if used sensibly (and with a snatch block whenever possible for any sort of hard pull), it should be a pretty good deal for the "normal" user like a lot of us. Even comes with the same "universal" winch mounting plate stamping, that's where I got the one I'm planning to cut up. ;D

Actually it's the 9500 model. SE9500 or something like that. Got it for $400 to my door. I found it somewhere for $399 (but they wanted $85 to ship it) and Summit priced matched, and they have free shipping, so I thought it was a good deal. I don't really think that plate will flex, but what do I know about that stuff. I was mostly concerned with the rear of the plate pulling up, where I mounted those brackets to the side of the frame.

That's a nice deal. I've always had great experiences dealing with Summit, I usually go to them first for almost anything when I have the choice.
One question -- what grade size are those bolts? I can take the rest of the measurements off my own winch plate and see how much the mount should actually be good for ...
