Are the side front markers actual lights or just reflectors or reflector-light combos? You could probably creative and use some sort of joe-neric reflector-lights from the auto parts store or something like the big-rigs / dump trucks / school busses, etc. use. Depends on how you want it to look, I guess. Lookin' good, glad to see the progress, Andy. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some more done myself soon...

They're lights. Dual filament. Marker and turn.
Question. Are they an inspection point?

Interesting you ask that, Andy. Chele's Rubi doesn't have either the front-visible or side-visible turn/running/marker light(s). I just re-looked through her build-up thread. I guess since the YJs have the turn signal on the grille insert, you could probably get away with a universal marker/reflector dual-filament light from Advance/Autozone/Napa. I'm wondering what would work best, though. Any thoughts, Keith?
EDIT: You might want to upload the "new" pics to your Photodump account, Andy... they're "missing" because of exceeded bandwidth on whatever other hosting that is. Also... and this is just me... you can post the pics in different spots as progress goes... sometimes it's not fun to wait for the first page of a buildup thread to load ... because photodump/photobucket/imageshack/etc are choking to death while 980342840384 pictures load on the page. Again, this is just me... no offense to anyone!

I just thought about something, Andy... those "temporary" marker lights you had on there when you took the flares off might work, or something similar. Only thing to figure out is how to mount them so they don't get munched, unless you have plenty of spares or can get spares... you could always notch out the tubing for the tube flares or something.

Notching the tubes is out of the question. Would defeat the whole purpose of having them. Considering a trip out to Dave (CORE4WD) to see about making a bracket to set in just behind the tube and a little forward. I should be able to sneak the wires in and be fine. I'm well overdue to have taken my heep over to Dave and get some work in on it. If not that, then I could bore a hole in the sheet metal which makes up the back of the fender and mount it there but I don't know if would too far back for inspection purposes. I want to cut the front bumper like Chele's, chop the nerf bars to clear the 35's better and weld them to the frame as well (they're bolted on now and are too flimsy for the two tons of weight. Also need to beef up the rear tire carrier mount to the bumper...which is also flimsy. .
BTW...the "temporary" marker lighs were the same marker lights...just took off the flares and screwed the lights back into place.

Hey....that thing looks GREAT!! ;D Love the FF...definitely get that front bumper cut down... As far as the side marker lights, since you have signals in the front (which btw ARE required by Va law after 1955 on ALL vehicles, I checked) ...you may not need side marker lights. I found a code for vehicles longer than 35 ft, but not for cars. They may not be required. As a side note, I am having some turn signals installed soon. Again...love the FF's..they were a good choice!!

Thanks Chele. I didn't think about the fact that you have a TJ and the marker AND turn signal was eliminated in your fender swap thus having nothing up front to signal with. Falling back on the simple traits of the YJ, I guess I luck out in the signal still being in the grille...thanks for the info concerning the 35' trailer thing. I'm gonna make a call to the guy who has inspected my jeeps the last couple years and see what he says about it.
So...thank you...as your build up was some of the inspiration to go with tube fenders myself.

Well, Andy, if it comes down to a "must-have" or you'd prefer to have 'em anyway, you could also just mount 'em in your hood near the latches on either side and re-run the wiring to them -- pull it from the rest of the harness back to the firewall, then run it in it's own loom to the light on either side.

Ok, maybe not 10 seconds but it's not THAT bad! lol

Picpile has been working fine...not sure of the issue?!?!? But...in case for you that can't stand the "CORE-line" style of 1st page photos...here the update (on page 3) ------------------------------------------ Update - June 13, 2007 Got these for FREE. Sitting in a shed for almost 2 years. Off of a 70's Vette. They're the L88 (cast# 333882) Open chamber, ported, not polished. A couple hours of work on the heads. Pulled em' apart, dunked-n-soaked, wheeled the valves, etc. New valve seals and they're ready swap in. So, today I managed this much... Front grille and radiator out. Accessories out, carb and intake off. Tomorrow (hopefully) I'll get enough time to get the exhaust unbolted and the heads off. Have to take the rocker assemblies down and swap them over to the L88 heads. I'm planning on changing the cam, lifters, and going to a set of noisy timing gears too, but I have to see if there is anything special about the bore first.
