Around 260 h.p./ 380 lbs.ft. torque (at crank). I'm running the NP435 so at least I won't lose a whole bunch through the tranny. I suppose one day I'll take it to Va Speed and check the rear wheel numbers for kicks...

While everyone was out having fun this weekend Alex (supervisor/bolt starter!) and I painted up the bellhousing. It got painted cuz it needed to come off tranny and get fitted up to engine for drilling/tapping hole for clutch bar bracket. I built a new steering shaft also, just need to get the right fitting for one of the hydro assist ports on the gear box and bolt the box back on.

Got some more done Saturday night. Power steering is hooked up (still need to install ram assist stuff to axle), carb is on and linkage on, alternator is on, passenger header is on...
Thanks Jay!

Follow me to certain death Norm! If you dare.... Dave [0=======0] Broncos rule! All he has to do is go up a steep hill, then who's following who?! ;D j/k I mean no disrespect to you or the EB, because I think it's great and so is Billy's. I couldn't even begin to fab up the stuff you have for those builds. But to start from scratch like you are and go carb seems like cutting a corner on one of the most important pieces on your rig. I can picture your frustration right now at Crozet up on DT Debauchery. I do understand you gotta find a happy medium with function and price though. Still, it's looking great! Curious, are you keeping it yellow? It is a fine color....... What are you doing for brakes? Hydroboost? You aren't planning on using manual brakes on 44s right?

Fromme and I are available to heckle and drink beer while you work to finish this project. Can we play with the RC trucks, too? ;D

Can't remember, is it a 302 or 351W? I'm sure you could always find some late-model factory EFI stuff at P-n-P, or opt for a TBI setup, if you decide to ditch the carb. Definitely going to have to tune that carb for inclines - not heckling here, just giving my perspective, Dave! Dave G

Follow me to certain death Norm! If you dare.... Dave [0=======0] Broncos rule! All he has to do is go up a steep hill, then who's following who?! ;D j/kThis Quadrajet is used by the guys at BC Broncos www.bcbroncos.com/info.html. They go fast (desert) and go slow (West coast crawlin') and have taken their Bronco's through the Hot Tubs (doesn't get much steeper ;D) and all the good trails the West has to offer. It should handle Crozet/Rausch/Oak Ridge just fine. Quad's aren't designed like other carb's, which makes them great offroad. This is why they are better than other carb's: The center mount fuel bowl is the biggest advantage in the quadrajet for a few reasons. 1. its small. 2. location center of carb less prone to attitude changes. 3. center location, air flow through carb is around the bowl so bowl stays much cooler. Less vapor lock issues. secondary fuel flow has really no mechanical link so fuel is only drawn on the secondary side if sufficent air flow IE suction is present. No secondary fuel bowl that over fills because on trails you bump around and float bounce pumps fuel into the secondary side and since you dont go fast enough to use the secondary side it over flows. The quadrajet can run with a much lower fuel pressure than the other carbs so bouncing around takes longer to over fill the primary bowl if you use a pressure regulator. Power application through the carb is by air velocity not vacuum pressure so the carb is less problematic at high or low altitudes depending on where/how your power valve controled carb is set-up. Yes, you still have to undestand them, kinda like how you understand sensors and switches and stuff on EFI. Ya gotta know what does what. Jet Peformance does some more mods to the Quad tomake it foolproof. (me proof?) I'm gonna find out. If I don't like it, I'll be giving YOU a call Keith! I mean no disrespect to you or the EB, because I think it's great and so is Billy's. I couldn't even begin to fab up the stuff you have for those builds. But to start from scratch like you are and go carb seems like cutting a corner on one of the most important pieces on your rig. I can picture your frustration right now at Crozet up on DT Debauchery. Guess I'll have to take my Quadrajet book with me so I can tweak it on the trail! That's why I plan on mid-week trips with you DOOD! I do understand you gotta find a happy medium with function and price though. Still, it's looking great! Curious, are you keeping it yellow? It is a fine color.......Staying with yellow...Rustoleum Sunburst Yellow What are you doing for brakes? Hydroboost? You aren't planning on using manual brakes on 44s right?
[/color] Beleive it or not, the manual brakes are good since they are 1 ton brakes (huge) and the EB is light, compared to what the brakes are normally required to stop. Hydroboost will be going on eventually, however... They come with all the mods to make them run well out of the box. It will just need some tuning for performance, although most people have been able to just throw them on and go. I've done a little research on this carb at classicbroncos.com/. You guys (and anyone else for that matter!) are welcome to come by, heckle and drink b##r! Dave
