cut made cutting slip joint end at the weld. you only cut deep enough to cut through weld end seperated from tube checking tube for straight cut (my chop saw tends to deflect the blade on long cuts)

tube ground square slip joint reinserted and checking for square. (take your time here if it is not square it will never balance) ready to weld, leave a small gap so you get good penetration on the weld welding done, try to do the weld without stopping. the drive shaft is installed i still need to drive it to see if i need to balance it or not. to balance it i will use a hose clamp at the end and rotate it till the vibe goes away then weld a washer in the spot where the screw for the clamp is. next project will be building a custom crossover steering.

Did you ensure both u-joints would be properly aligned before welding? You can use a long straight piece of metal to check for proper alignment. If the u-joints are out of phase with each other, you'll get vibes that no balancing will be able to fix. You pictures don't show the alignment so I thought I'd ask.

well with the run at crozet i found i neet to beef up the frame at the steering box and build a track bar to lomit the amount of side deflection on the front springs. hopefully this will be temporary untill i get hydro assist installed.
