Looking sweet keith. I can't wait to see it in action on the annual. Btw I am getting the bronco dyno-tuned to make sure we have the mixtures right before I start throwing parts at it.

Hey Keith sorry we forgot about the front skids!! Ooops. My exhaust manifold is re-welded and back in at least...let me know how the engine skid worked out. Dave

I'll just do the best I can, and if it looks like I"m having trouble I'll stop and bring it over again. Glad you got the exhaust done, you made quick work of that.

The leak toasted my motor mount as well. Glad I got off my duff and tore into the exhaust before the trip! Sometimes it works out...

I got sick of having to jack the rear end 4 ft in the air to add gear oil, since the pinion is rotated up so high for the CV shaft, it made it very difficult and impossible to get the whole 60 oz in there. So I found this cover from Ruffstuff Specialties. Made out of 3/8" steel, and has a huge 1" fill plug. Very nice, and not very expensive either. So now I can get all the gear oil in, plus it holds some extra. Hopefully that will help with those fast spinning 5.13 in there. I was worried about starving the pinion bearing for oil too. I bent my tie rod all up at the annual, but the strange thing is that I didn't hit it on anything. I guess it just didn't like the 35's and whatever predicament it was in, and it failed. So I added this crossover steering setup. It is definitely beefy. It has a different feel than the OE set up, not sure if it's better or just different yet. And for fun, Rokmen was having a sale on some scratch and dent corners, so I though what the heck.

ORO, Offroad Only. I got it from Northridge4x4.com. He was having a special, might still be, free shipping and free steering stabilizer w/heim joints at each end. Not sure why you'd need those on a shock, but it looks neat.

What makes it difficult to fill? I haven't really paid attention to any of the TJ's in the back, so I'm curious.
When I run into one that's difficult to get to (like the Mustang with the Flowmasters tucked right up next to the rear yoke, you know how tight that is), I just use a $8 transfer pump from Advance. Actually faster than squeezing it straight outta the bottle ... we do the same for filling manual trannies, too.

The fill plug isn't hard to access, it's too low when the pinion is rotated up so far. You can't get the proper amount in there before it starts running back out of the fill hole. Even if you put it on a downhill slope and jack the rear end up real high. Plus I wanted more capacity too.

Ah, understood. That's not a high pinion rear end or anything, is it? Usually as long as the pinion is below the centerline, sling from the ring gear seems to do a pretty decent job of lubing the pinion bearings. The Bronco has the same basic double cardan setup, but hasn't been a problem. I'll have to take a look to see if the pinion snout is rotated up far enough to put the bearing above the fill line.

Glad you found RuffStuff Keith. That is who i got my cover from. I ordered the kit and had Don weld it up. It is definitely a heavy cover and super thick. I thought you were trying to behave and not put anything else on it?

I was, but I've been working mandatory overtime. I hate overtime, so it makes me feel better to spend it on Jeep stuff.

I feel ya about mandatory overtime, only I've been on it so long, I grown into my overtime paycheck. I need to work some more though because I've been sinking this year. Durn tuition. ANYwho...looks good. It's a monster already!
