Please post up your thoughts and ideas here based on the discussion tonight in the meeting.
For the benefit of those who could not attend the meeting, we discussed what the options are for the future of our website. Two possibilities were discussed briefly. (1) The club hires someone to revamp the site such that it has the format and flexibility of many of the newer forums and message boards. (2) We move our website over to a forum such as Meetup.
By all means these may not be the best or only options. The Board would like to get ideas from the members and then with all the options on the table, make a decision as to what works best for the club.
With that said, please post your thoughts and ideas here:

Ditch the old site and do a better forum-style site.

I think I agree with Norm. I don't know that the old site has any utility. Everything that is done on the old site can be done through the forums.

There are a TON of options for forums... Here are 2 that I know about!!!
Simple Machines LLC and vBulletin®
And getting a WORDPRESS website is easy!!!
I have a contact that can set up both!

What I would like to see is all of our old threads on the current forums being ported to whatever we decide to use. I would think that is possible... Keep the suggestions coming! I would like to have a few solid options in place by the February meeting so we can take action and put this to rest.

The company that hosts our website has several options for ways to create a site including wordpress. We need someone to volunteer or be paid to create and maintain the website. Ideas on how to improve the site are great. Volunteers to improve and maintain the site are just as crucial. I threw together what is up there so we would be found not to impress. And like a blind man changing spark plugs on a diesel it took time.

First, thank you Pat for all that you have done with the current site, it is much appreciated!! But, as times and technology change we should too. I know nothing about site management, but am in favor of a more user friendly one.

Thanks, I have no ownership connection for the site. You're not hurting my feelings. I want everyone to understand change cost the club time or money. The more wizbang the more time or money. I am down with whichever we decide. We could set up something like this? Www.Ohannatrails.com

Man Pat you didn't have to post twice. I wasn't directing that at anyone or anything. I was just being the negative to all the positive. You know it's what i do.

I'm going to restate that I think it is unnecessary to put forth any additional time, effort, and money for a forum that has no more than 20 active posters. The only time this place sees any amount of traffic is when registration comes up for the annual. Leave it alone and let's concentrate on getting back to basics and addressing other issues with our club.

I think we should have a forum where the header has all the important information up top for new visitors...meeting time, place, etc.
The rest of the information should be in the forum under a "NEW PEOPLE LOOK HERE" heading.
Finally to get more traffic on the forums, we should deduct a nickle off dues for every person who starts a thread, and a half penny for every post. These have to be meaningful posts, not just "YEAH", or "FAR OUT" or "GROOVY". We will have a person who takes the value of the entire post and makes a determination on whether he likes it or not. We shall name him the "WHOLE POST DIGGER". If he digs your post, you get the dough.

I agree with the concept of simplicity. The idea is a simple, but functional, means to get information out to the members. We all want to spend more time terra- wheeling and less time cyber-wheeling.
