Yep.. I'm gonna use the 350 out of the CJ.. right now, I'm using a mockup 350 that a buddy gave me. The drivetrain will sit at about 0 degrees (horizontal). That gives me the best chance of max front axle droop without binding up my 1350 ujoints (at about 20 degrees). Big Lime was setup with about 2-3 degrees (rear angled down) and at full droop you can just feel the front driveshaft start to bind a little. I'm not too worried about the rear shaft since it uses 1410 joints which go to about 28 degrees.

I was thinking that was the plan, at least for what powerplant. I guess having fuel injection is nice since you don't have to drop the rear of the engine 2-3 degrees as with a carbureted engine... if I remember right. I've been brainstorming myself and am thinking I am going to try and save some $$$ on my buildup by fabricating some of the parts (axle pivot drop brackets, leaf spring hangers, shackles....), otherwise, I'm going to spend a lot of $$$ just on the suspension. I'm sort of wondering if I'd be good on using either the 3.5" or 5.5" lift coils for an EB vice the 3" coils a la James Duff. I'm thinking I'd prefer progressive rate coils vice others (Superlift, Skyjacker, etc.). Wouldn't surprise me if I could possibly use TJ, YJ or XJ coils as well.

Honestly, I don't think engine angle affects a carb all that much anything within about 5 degrees of horizontal.. think about it, the engine has to run while idling in the driveway... and my driveway is sloped 4 degrees. Okay.. pretty productive day.. Got the Cowl Bar bent and installed. Next, I did the grill hoop. I wanted a downward slope from the cowl to the grill to give the rig a sleek look. I also wanted to lower the cowl and grill to increase visibility. Once I got those in place, I did my seat mounts next. John (Wanderer) helped me position and measure for seat placement. I think I'm gonna have a good view.. Seat looks high compared to the cowl but remember, that cowl is 4" shorter than stock. Another view.. Here's the grill just set in place to get an idea of the layout.. Another of the grill hoop and narrowed grill.. Seat mounts..

Eddie,
Are you keeping track of the weight as you put it on the chassis? It is looking sweet. What type of hood are you going to use and what wheel base you shooting for?

Not really keeping track of the weight but I think it'll turn out a little lighter than Big Lime's current 4500 lbs. I'm gonna reuse the "shortie" CJ5 hood. It's fiberglass so I can remove a 5" strip out of the middle and 'glass it back together.. nice and light too. Big Lime's current WB is 108". I'll probably keep it about that long.. maybe just a tad shorter.. 105"-106". Tomorrow I start the A and B pillars.. that's the fun stuff.

Forgot to take a pic yesterday so I did it this morning before I start working on it.. Got some cage work done yesterday. Main pillar, dash and windshield bar.. Gonna be a little tight entering and exiting but no worse than the current Jeep. Leg room is actually better. If I am able to make the Crozet run this upcoming weekend, that will definately be the last run for the current Big Lime.. I'm gonna need to setup the suspension soon so I guess it's about time to strip off the parts I need...

Had to back track a little today. I just wasn't happy with the lines of the cowl area so I removed that cowl bar and redid the front cage area. Took me just about all day so I just got back to where I was yesterday but I like the lines better... I think it looks better sloped a little more.. plus there's more room to climb in and out. I can even go in thru the windshield if I like. I redid the top bar with a slight bend at the ends.. I think it flows better..

Eddie,
Is that your broken TH350 your using? I was wondering why you didn't have a tranny mount yet.

Yeah.. that's the busted tranny. If I make the Crozet Run this weekend it'll be the last one before I rip the green Jeep apart. Then, I can do the tranny mount and roll the axles up under it.

Eddie,
Looking good so far. I'm waiting to see how it looks when you get the hood on it. Was the output shaft damaged when you broke the transmission? If not maybe I could take it off your hands.

Wow Eddie, you work fast. I'm gonna have to come take a look one weekend when you're out there.

Between the Bend Tech program and the hydraulic bender.. it's pretty quick work to bend up the tube. I have decided to change something else.. I'll post pics again after I do it..

Looks good and I don't mean to poke at your design, but why is your B pillar so far foreward? I'd think everything would be much more comfortable and the lines would be more pleasing to the eye if your B pillar was futher aft. It would also make room for cross/diagonal bracing and belt mounting behind the seats. (but then again opinions are like buttholes, we've all got them)
