No sweat.. I'm always looking for different views/opinions.. that's what keeps it from getting boring. I am gonna make some more changes.. matter of fact, I just bent up a new rocker rail. The new one will be raised up to the level of the seats so it will boatside better. It'll also allow me to just mount the seats to straight bars at floor level and also allow me to cut the cage down 4 inches to make the cage more proportional. At the same time, I lengthened the main body by 4 inches to allow the B pillar to be moved back a little allowing more room for the shoulder harness bar and "X" brace in the B pillar... just like you suggested. Kinda sucks to redo work but I don't want to look back at the end and wish that I had done something different. I'll just cut the old piece up and use it for braces somewhere..

Okay.. on Sunday after the Crozet Run, I stripped all the tubing off except the main front rail. I bent another rocker rail and some of the cage. Ended up raising the rockers about 4 inches and cutting the same 4 inches out of the cage height. That let me run the seat mounts straight across the rocker rails so basically, I'll be sitting on the floor. While I was at it, I made the rocker rail (floor) about 3 inches longer so I'd have more leg room. Then, I got the cage put back in and have been messing with the "X" bar and shoulder harness bars behind the seats. Before raising the rocker rail... After raising the rocker rail... More leg room and I angled the "B" pillar to match the seat angle.. The new upper windshield bar has a meaner look than before.. The shoulder harness bar and "X" bars were interfering with each other... now they'll become one.. I kept the "X" bars on a different plane than the shoulder harness bar so I could anchor them into the rocker rail bar instead of just attaching them to the bottom of the "B" pillar legs. That lets me get another weld surface and distributes the load just a little bit more..

Looks like your going to be sitting pretty high. It will look like your driving an MB with a CJ grill. Still looking good. Could you take a picture from the front showing how much you raised the rocker tubing. Kind of hard to get a good view from the front quarter.

I'll get more pics.. It looks deceiving... the new tranny skid will be about the same height or 1" higher than before. The top of the new cage will be about 4" shorter than the old Jeep. The rocker rails will be about 4" higher than my old rocker skids on the green Jeep. The actual seat height from the ground will be about 4" shorter on the new rig. The height at the cowl will be about 3" shorter on the new rig.
Of course, all of these measurements are subject to change without notice ;D

You sound like a credit card company, rates are subject to change without notice.

A little more progress. I got most of the cage work behind the B Pillar done. Might toss an X in there somewhere.. still not sure. That rear area will be caged in for storage. I might also add storage just behind the fuel cell.. could be a good place for gallon containers. I needed to get started on the frontend tube work too. That required the master cylinder to be mounted so I could make sure the hood would clear. Brake pedal turned out to be a PITA to install. I ended up fabbing a box so I could shove the pedal far enough forward to be comfortable for me. That took all day Sunday and I ended up dropping the dang MC assembly on my foot. Anyhow.. next up I think I'm going to pickup a couple 4x8 sheets of expanded steel mesh for the floor, roof and storage areas. This week I'll also start getting the engine/tranny ready to be pulled out of Big Lime... Rear tube work with cell set in place... Brake pedal assembly ripped out of Big Lime.. No turning back now.. Pedal assembly setup in new box.. Views of the pedal box.. Stock CJ hood sitting on frame.. Hacked up hood.. From the front..

Okay.. been busy this week but not so much with the buggy. Got a few support bars welded in but the majority of the work went into stripping down parts off of Big Lime. Got the engine, tranny and TC pulled. Got the fuel injection harness marked and pulled. Same for the onboard welder and onboard air. Next step is to clean off grimy engine and then install it into the buggy so I can setup the tranny mount. Then the real welding can begin... Ripped the still-beating heart right out of Big Lime "thump thump... thump thump... Did have to cut the grill bar down as there was no way the drivetrain was gonna clear.. even with all the air let out of the tires.. Sub assemblies are neatly arranged for ease of reassembly.. Can't wait to transfer all this over to the buggy.. Big Lime is officially powerless...

Pingpong (Patrick) is gonna take it.. not sure what his plans are for it. He's gonna get the frame, cage, tub, skid, and motor mounts (SBC).. that's about it.

Yesterday, I got most of the tube stuff welded up. Today, I concentrated on the skid plating and a few small details that had to be done in order to get the motor in for the last time.. Also, shot the whole thing in Rustoleum Professional.. Gloss Black. I'm trying to make this thing a rolling chassis as quick as I can in case that same neighbor calls Codes Compliance next.. Rolled the cage around to make welding easier.. oh yeah.. I've got a good sunburn  Here's the belly skid. I'll probably cover this with UHMW self-lubricating plastic to slide over the rocks a little better.. Here's the bottom of the rig. You can see the height of the boatside.. Another view of the bottom of the boatside.. about to be plated.. Almost done with the armor plating.. still have to catch that triangle at the rear. I already cut the piece for that but I need to bend it and weld it on.. at a later date... Did a little more work and then shot on a couple thick coats of Rustoleum Gloss Black. Figured I'd use Rustoleum because I can touch it up easy enough with a rattle can. I had to make a small notch for the torque converter in one of the ribs.. I'll probably add some more ribbing and a bolt in support for the front of the "U"... Shiny black..

This is why I moved to the county. My neighbors hated anything automotive. I never won any battle with the lawn police. I think their blood pressure rises when vehicle doesn't move for a couple of days. Great looking project, Eddie! I'll get busy on mine when it cools off.

Last time the cops came, I told them to show me the City Code that says I can't work on stuff in my own driveway if I get the job done in time.. vehicle can sit for what?.. no longer than 30 days or something like that.
