I would go look at it. the weight difference is a axle and two 8' pieces of steel or so. Maybe take it to a scale and get its weight.. I would guess its about 5K. my .02

I still think it would be worth the drive, to take a look. Grab a tape measure and hit the road. Especially since it sounds like the guy is unsure of what he's got. Even if it is too long, I bet you and Dave Phillips could drop the rear axle and a few feet off the back in a weekend. We cut the front, back, and built a g-neck for mine. s252.photobucket.com/albums/hh8/jeeepxj/Converted%20Goose/I don't think you're gonna find any g-neck longer than 20' for $2200.

I don't have much to say about the Gooseneck, but I know a hen weighs about 8 lbs.

Hahaha, you guys are so funny. I got back a while ago from looking at the trailer. It's still sitting there and I didn't make an offer. Really, I just ran away from it, jumped in the truck and left. Still, it was a nice drive there and back, the sweet sound of a 7.3 humming along is music. ;D There's lots of reasons I didn't take it, the biggest are the axles were torsion axles, the 6 tires were all old and worn and they were passenger car tires. The thing is much beefier than it looks in the pics, it has to be 6000# easy. It's all rusty, it needs new wiring, and something happened to the gooseneck, because a new coupler was poorly welded on there. I don't think I want to buy something, spend a lot of time getting how I need it, buying 6 new trailer tires and wiring, lopping off the back 8 feet, and then still have something that weighs 3 tons.

Alright, how about this one. Guy says it's in good shape. Tires are good, has a spare tire and a nice toolbox. Not the deal of the century, but not bad either I think. Anyone know about Roadrunner Trailer Mfg? Looks like it has more bracing than a Kaufman too, up at the fenders, and underneath the length of the frame rails.

I like that one, hit "Buy it now" and get it over with. The chrome wheel inserts look good. I like the design with the supports closer together than the Kaufman. You'll be able to add some wood (5/4 deck boards) to fill in the center if you want to. I like having the full deck for hooking up tie downs, etc. Craig - see that tool box? They stole my idea!

Which one? Click here
Makes me wonder if it was a converted travel trailer or boat trailer.

Of course she does Craig. I've been known on occasion to sneak some things by, but I don't think I can hide a 34 ft trailer from her. :-)
I'm going to Marion, NC to pick it up Monday if anyone either would like to go with Ed and I, or needs anything picked up from near that way. It's not quite as far south as Charlotte and more west.
