Make sure you clear that with the lady at the register, she may want another $6! Change that signature, too!

Wouldn't even take the time/deal with the hassle.....next time you take a load of junk to the landfill, run the tow rig across the scales. I did it with my Ram, and found out I'm just over 8K empty with 1/2 tank and me in the cab. Besides, the land fill scale is FREE.......tough to beat that.

34' hmmmm, I bet you could almost stick (3) TJ's on that thing. Then take it to the scales.

34' is too long for 2 Jeeps or 1 Jeep and a camper, but too short for 3 Jeeps. A 28-30' trailer would be perfect, and easier to get around. I've already considered breaking out the sawzall and cutting the dovetail part off, but then that would require more fab work for a new rear crossmember and the slide in ramp mounts, so it's staying as is. That and then the axles wouldn't be in the ideal location any longer either.

Hey guys, last question I think. Seeing as how I highly doubt I'll be more than 14,000# gross on that trailer, and there's only a 250# difference in the load rating between the E and G (3500 vs 3750), should I even bother with staying with the G load rating? The E's are much cheaper and easier to get a hold of. Not to mention, 10% of that weight will be on the tongue so there's a little bit of a safety margin there. Whatchoo think?

Where are you getting E's that are rated for 3500lbs? Are they LT's or trailer tires? I believe my E's (235/85/16) are only rated for 3042lbs each. I'll have to double check. I think 10% of that trailer weight on your pin will be on the lighter end. I'm thinking tha it'll be somewhere between 10-25%, depending on how it's loaded.

Never mind, you're right, they aren't 3500#, I was looking at the wrong size.
You are probably right about the 10%, just using that as a conservative number.
Still think it would be ok seeing as you are all getting by fine?

Still think it would be ok seeing as you are all getting by fine? Fine enough that I'm not going to drop $600 in (4) new tires for my trailer. Here's a thought.. Before you buy some new tires, load yours and Ed's Jeeps up and hit the scale. If you go to Frank's or Big Charlie's Truck Stop, the scales will be divided into sections. You'll be able to find out exactly what'll be on your trailer axles. In this picture: I had 9720lbs on the trailer axles, 5660lbs on the Ford's rear axle, and 4720 on the Ford's front axle.

Frank's only has one big scale, and they make you pull on it one axle at a time to get the different weights.
