Nice... looks to be a lot of metal... Where do you think she'll sit at final weight, completely loaded etc?

Hey, I've seen that hood before somewhere! It's coming along nicely Eddie. It would take me a year to have done what you did in a few weeks.

Paul.. I'll be here all day.
I think it'll come in around 3800-4000 pounds. At least most of the heavy metal is down low.
Keith.. like the hood? In the end, I still might pickup a new 'glass hood so it's nice and purty.

Didn't quite get to the front shocks.. however, I got a lot done. The front and rear 4 links are done. The front frame brackets took awhile to make because of their location. Also had to shorten all 4 front links a couple inches. Glad that part is done. Next, I'll get to the front shock mounts. Then I'll probably start working on permanent seat mounts and controls. Front upper link frame mount. Kinda in the middle of nowhere so I basically had to box it in with steel plate.. Frame mounts.. side view.. Close fit for the front driveshaft.. Upper and lower front frame mounts.. I hate making brackets. Picked up a couple of seats for $150.. should be a little more comfy than the old hard plastic seats.. Also going with a thicker aluminum radiator.. picked this one up for $100..

Eddy,
Sorry I didn't get by today. I was rebuilding Jason's (Red TJ) rear axle. I'll try and stop by tomorrow night.

good deal on those seats, where did you get them for that price at? Got 'em from a buddy. They're a little snug but still better than the hard plastic ones I've been using.

The buggy is now an official rolling chassis. Sitting on all 4 bumpstops. Got the front shock hoops in and the lower shock mounts.. still have to brace the hoops but the buggy is sitting on it's own suspension. Sorry for the crappy pics.. the camera was in the house and was cold.. when I brought it out to take pics, it had condensation on it.. Lower shock mounts.. mounted shocks behind axle this time.. should help to get a little more flex.. Shock hoop with shock.. Sitting low on the bumpstops..

Since Code Compliance gave me a notice saying I have an "unlicensed and nonrunning vehicle", I'm gonna focus on getting this thing moveable under its own power. Today after work I worked on getting the steering and brake controls in place as well as fabbing up a lower radiator mount. I don't trust the thin aluminum of the radiator to hold it in place during a hard roll or endo. I think bolts would rip right thru it so I wanted to make a "clamp" style mount that grabs the radiator at the top and bottom. Since the radiator channel is 2" wide, a piece of 2"x2" stock fits perfect in it for holding it in place. I bent up a lower radiator crossmember out of the 1.75" DOM and then cut and grafted in a piece of square stock for the radiator to sit on. I'll put in some sort of cushion material later.. Steering valve mounting bracket that I swiped off the old Jeep.. Bracket puts the steering valve about 1/2" away from the header tube.. I'll have to make a heat shield for it.. I mounted the steering valve... then realized that's where the alternator used to sit.. oh well, guess the alt will go to the other side of the engine.. Bent a steering column support and dropped the steering bearing in from the top.. I'll probably cover that "dash" with a piece of aluminum plate later.. Here's the lower radiator support/crossmember. A piece of 2" wide square stock grafted in and fits perfect in the bottom of the radiator.. Radiator support in place.. still have to work out something for the Black Magic fan..

Looookeeeeng goood, mayng! Heh. I was going to say, "vato", but... anyhow, coming along really well. Too bad the sphincter police are being anal. I thought that you were allowed to store whatever you wanted on private property? I guess yet again, Virginia is much different than anywhere else I've lived. Can't wait to see the finished product... in action, too (if my schedule permits... ).

I told the Code Inspector that this will never be a license street vehicle. That it is an offroad only vehicle meant for recreation like a quadrunner or dirt bike. He was like, "Yeah.. but it's still a car." I'll get it running by next weekend and toss my VIN and antique tag on it from the other Jeep. Then, I should leave it uncovered.

Wife's backbrace made a good bed for the radiator.. Upper radiator mount with same backbrace padding. Just undo those two bolts and the whole radiator and fan come right up. I'll Sawzall that crossmember later and add a couple of bolt-together plates... Beginning of the center console.. Aluminum plate that will be marked out for gauges, shifters and switches.. also, as much as I love my Flowmasters, I think I'm gonna run a couple of cheapy Cherry Bombs. The headers only have 1.5" primaries and 2" collectors anyways. I think the Cherry Bombs won't radiate as much heat as the old Flowmasters and they take up less underfloor space..
