I never considered stretching the frame I just looked at the stock wheelbases of the other ranger type vehicles cause if I can keep it the same as one of them I don't have to buy custom drive shafts. so here is what I came up with. BroncoII 94" short bed standard cab ranger 107.9" 2door explorer 101.7" 4door explorer 111.5 I think I would rather weld the frame than try to tub the cab. I don't think I will be able to get the 101.7" WB but might be able to get the 107.9" I want to make sure that I have alittle extra room incase I decide to get 35" tires

I would have to agree go 107 that really isn't that much differance. Plus if do stay with leaf springs you could go to a long flexy one that is offset to one side. Run the short side to the rear and incorp your rear shackle into your rear crossmember.

After some looking I think I am gonna leave it maybe do something in the future. The bronco did well the wheelbase is the same as a yj and it may look alittle goofy but hey I drive a ford while all of you drive jeeps so obviously I am not right in the head. It will just give Tony something else to bust my chops over. Don't worry Tony I have thick skin I can take it.

It seems like the Cherokee wheelbase (101) does a lot better then the Wrangler wheel bases do. Just something to think about.

I'm curious as to what all you still have left between the two trucks and otherwise... I may decide I want a 4.0... or some other parts if you don't want or need them ;D

Cool. Sent you a PM. Might be interested for a future project. It just sucks that I have all these project ideas roaming around in my head, but no way to actually do them right now or a place to stockpile parts Dave G

I have been making some headway over the last week or so I just about have the ranger motor ready to drop in the frame I changed out the frame harness that was in the bronco with the one from the ranger and surprisingly enough the only wires I had to modify was the abs sensor on the rear axle it was to long. I swapped out the fuel lines and tidied up the frame rails I am trying to avoid the rats nest that I used to have on the frame. I even managed to get a start on the trailer well as much of a start as I could get with out a welder. here is a pic of the trailer I put my 34's under it to see if I was gonna have to trim the bed. and here is what I got done today I got off a little early today so I went home and started messing with the truck, well the motor anyways. My buddy is taking the old motor so I needed to get all the stuff off of it that I wanted like my very new spark plugs and wires,95 amp alternator, a/c pump (for on board air) and I thin that was it. I started off by putting the old motor back in the frame of the bronco cause it made it easier to work on, and I had the ranger motor that I am keeping on the stand right next to the frame and started swapping stuff out. I had to pull the upper intake from the ranger motor again so that I could run the harness for the injectors and other stuff. but I have just about everything on my motor wired all I need now for my motor is a new water pump, thermostat, and water inlet pipe. Friday I will be pulling the motor back out of the frame and setting it on my buds trailer and then setting my motor in the frame where it will stay and then I will be puttingf my engine hoist on his trailer to so I will have a whole lot of room in garage I cant wait I am tired of tripping over all these extra parts and harnesses. here are a couple of pics since someone keeps giving me flak about not posting pics.

since my fenders are all chewed up from the bronco I will be getting a clean set and doing a 2" body lift so I dont have to trim the fenders I like the look of the complete fender. I was looking at the exhaust parts yesterday and noticed that the exit end of my cats are 2 1/2" and the entrance side of my muffler is only 1 3/4" so I am gonna do some exhaust work on this thing. for starters I am getting a set of headers and a test pipe to do away with the cats and then I am gonna redo the back side of the exhaust

I would definitely go with a 2", 2 1/4", or 2 1/2" exhaust from the cat back. Not sure if they inspect for it there or if you are required to have emissions testing done, but removing the cat might not be a good idea, unless you have a test pipe made or buy one (if you still can?) and just install the cat when inspection time comes around - unless you're turning it into a trailer queen. You will like the little extra oomf you will have with headers and a larger more free-flowing exhaust, though.

I found a guy on ebay that makes a test pipe that is a direct replacement for our cats so it will be an easy swap come inspection time if I need to

Curious, what's the point of deleting the cat? You'll only get a few hp, and that's at WOT; it will make the exhaust smell terrible and burn you and your wife's eyes, and well, it's on there for a reason. I ended up adding them to my CJ when put the 5.0 in, I couldn't take the eye burning and the stink.
