You may want to look for a high-flow cat for a 4.0 Ranger / Explorer. They aren't 'cheap', but could be money well spent. Definitely helped my Nissan - along with header & 2 1/2" exhaust that included a Flowmaster-style muffler. I think when I did that one, I probably should have replaced the O2 sensor... seemed to run a tad rich afterwards, but could have also been related to a cooler running engine / ECT sensor issue. I never got a chance to figure that out before I gave it to the ex-wife. Just some food for thought.

How does 106-108" wheel base sound. sounds alot better and looks alot better so it looks like I will be buying some 5" c channel and stretching the frame about 13" it is still alot better than 94" plus I would rather welde the thicker metal of the frame instead of welding thin sheet metal I have never had any luck welding sheet metal.

Why not use part of the Ranger frame? Or did you already haul off and scrap what you didn't use for your homemade trailer?

I had thought about that last time I was thinking of stretching it but the frame was different the 5" channel is better for this

Ah. I just thought about it - probably not enough useable frame left after you chopped off the front end of the Ranger frame - if you used the existing frame for your trailer tongue, that is. The fun part is going to be extending your brake lines, your fuel lines, and wiring harness.

Figured I would do an update so here is what I have gotten done in the last few days. I bought all the stuff to do the transmission shifter rebuild $100.13 I put a new water pump, thermostat, and new oil and filter in also filled the transs with new juice. $91 I ordered the new body mounts and lift shackles from summit with a saturday delivery so that I can get the rear body mounts in and the body mounted this weekend. $141 the other day my steering setup came in so I got the crossmember bracket bolted in but I am waiting to put all the linkage in for now According to turbotax I was supposed to get my money today but that didn't happen which really pissed me off because my plans for today were to go buy the steel to stretch the frame, go get my welder and bottle so that tomorrow I could stretch the frame but noooooooo when uncle sam wants money he wastes no time taking it but when he has to dish it out he takes his sweet ass time. so instead of the original plan I went home and bolted the radius arm drop brackets back in and then went to my shop and picked up a chainfall and a 12ft ladder so that I could use the tree that hangs over my property to lift the body on to the frame so tomorrow me and some friends can get the rear mounts in we are also gonna go ahead and move the front leaf mount to where it will be after the stretch and go ahead and hang the leaf there and we will use a jack stand or something between the axle and frame so that I can leave the body on and still move the truck because as of right now I still can't set the body on the frame with the tires on. anyways blah blah here are some pictures I had to cut the hoop out of the crossmember in this picture to get the body to sit on the frame I will reinforce that crossmember after I get my welder. oh yeah and I was hoping to get away with out using a body lift but I am still gonna need a body lift to clear the frame in the back. Today was a good day. We got a good amount of stuff done. We pulled the body again and just left it up in the tree while we moved the hanger for the rear leaf spring it got moved 13", I should be able to use a stock driveshaft from a standard cab ranger now. It looks like I may not need to stretch the frame if this isn't a stupid idea. as of right now I have the shackel mounts hanging off the back of the bumper Which I have heard of people doing this before I would just need to strengthen the bumper mount and reinforce the the shackle mount. If that doesn't work then I will have to stretch the frame but I do like the idea of the rear of the leaf springs being the last part of the truck makes for a better departure angle. Oh and what is the bumper law in va cause as of now with no weight from a bed on the rear it is setting above the 34" tires. any way here is what it looks like now I think it looks much better with the rear axle moved out from under the body.

Bumper heights go by GVWR...46.2-1063, but looking at what you have...your bumper height should be 28" for a street legal vehicle.

I guess I will have to buy a set of small tires for the street and then swap when I go wheeling

Bryan, When I had the blue yota the rear shackles were in from the back bumper about an inch or so. It worked well, from protecting the shackles in case I backed into a tree or something. But the departure angle was great.

In my opinion there is no need to mess with extending your frame. Once you have the real weight on the rear, have a look at your shackle angle - as it sits now it looks too upright (it shound be more / than | ). I think it looks much better and should wheel better at the new wheel base. Adam

Well I guess I will be stretching the frame after all, a guy at work is into the broncoII's and is in the market for a rear bumper/tire swing so I am selling him the bumper and that should pretty much pay for the steel I need to complete the bed. plus stretching the frame will allow me to move my fueltank back a few inches so it isn't right over top of the axle

I got some more goodies this week now I just need time to work on this pig. yesterday my 2" body lift came in today my new Miller Digital Elite welding shield and the extended skyjacker radius arms man is that a nice kit. I got an email from Broncograveyard about shipping and found out that the headers are back ordered 3-4 weeks so I cancelled that part of the order but i still have the 6" coils coming from them. I am still waiting on confirmation from poly performance so I know when the rock raisl, shock mounts and tire deflators will be here.
